Ernie’s has definitely not gone toward upscale! It has old tables, and mismatched chairs. The napkins are a roll of cheap brown paper. But it is a warm and friendly place. The radio planes baroque music, while the TVs show boxing matches. Most people know each other, but if you didn’t when you came in, you do by the time you leave. The steamed shrimp was great. The soft shelled crabs were hot and spicy, the beer was cold, and being in a place where everyone is welcome is very special.
