an historic church in an historic area ..the chorus is great and many come quite q distajce to hear it.
This church and its ministries has been a Godsend to me. It has truly enhanced my spiritual journey in every sense of the way. Yes, I am a long time member , and know no other place I would prefer to call my '" spiritual" home. The fellowship, the spiritual guidance, the people - fellow parishioners, the ministries, the programs , "the ASBC" experience is God-centered and superb. I thank God for directing me to this very special church. Come visit, and you will return. Ask President Obama!
Pastor Wesley can move mountains with his sermons, bringing many people to tears and the joy of worshiping God to heart. The choir is awesome, better than "Sister Act" - their talent and energy is contagious. A historic Black Church that welcomes everyone
We attended the funeral of a long time friend Alfred Street Baptist Church. The people were very attentive to the sensitive nature of the day. The church is fairly new and attractive. The musical director, Mr. Jeremiah Murphy played during the service. His mastery of the piano and organ was extremely moving. My friend who is also a Baptist Minister spoke to members of the church and told them how much he was moved by the service. Rev. Dr. Howard John Wesley, is the Pastor. God Bless them all.
I love this church. No other place has made me feel so comfortable, so spiritual, and so at home. This church reminds me of a church I grew up in. The congregation is sweet and welcoming, and the Pastor is phenomenal. Pastor Wesley is a true gift from God. His message is always clear, educational and mixed with a little humor.
President Obama and his family came here for Easter services, and like all of us who live in Old Town, he was treated to heart pounding, inspirational music. This first of Alexandria's African-American Baptist churches, remains predominantly African-American, but more and more residents of all colors are now coming here for the wonderful services.
