Delicious food, excellent service, and a comfortable atmosphere Jake’s knocks it out of the ballpark. All the food is good, but have smoked chicken or anything barbecue the first time you go. Desserts are homemade and my favorites part, so save room!

This is a little jewel in Ashland is a great find for anyone. We visit two-three times a month. Recommend the BBQ and the Brunswick stew

If you travel Route 54 in Ashland passing old town Ashland, you come across Jake's Place within a couple miles. The smell draws you in as you get close to the building. Don't worry, you won't drive by it fast as the speed limit just goes from 25mph to 35mph at the building. Now to the food...the BBQ was delicious and the taste is as great as the smell. Coleslaw on top was on point. A little pricey, but you get a good amount of food. Stop in if you haven't already.

Was in the area on a Sunday. Arrived about 40 minutes before closing. If we were in the area again would go back if it wasn’t so close to their closing time. Although there were 4 tables occupied it was obvious they wanted people to leave. The table next to us asked for dessert and the waitress said “Okay, that’s to go?”

Husband had the beef brisket sandwich said the meat was great but it didn’t come on the challah bread as indicated on the menu, it was on a small hamburger bun. My burnt ends sandwich was good and the coleslaw on top was a nice addition.

The 1926 gas station was very cute inside and out.

I only give five star ratings to restaurants that I will travel more than 15 miles to eat at. I do not give five star ratings out lightly. That said, this is a five-star restaurant.

This place uses small time country charm. What comes with that charm, is patience when you are a customer. If you are from the north, Southerners do not like to move fast. They like to move at their own speed and enjoy things. That is what you're going to get here. This was an old gas station renovated into a gorgeous quaint little restaurant. The food here is great. The brisket is fantastic. The collard greens are very good. The hamburgers are fantastic. The food here is very good. But if you come in here starving and expect to have food in front of you in 10 minutes, you are not going to be happy. It is not that type of restaurant. The prices are very good, and the service is friendly. This is a restaurant where the owner will stand outside and enjoy the complements he receives from the delicious food he has spent all day smoking and preparing. A little local hint, you can call ahead for reservations, and that will make life a little bit easier for you when you first got here.

This is a great small town dining experience.
