My husband and I had a much needed weekend getaway to Guemes Island Resort in early December. Stayed in one of the two newer cabins with it's own private hot tub right outside the back door, literally 2 or 3 steps and you can get in and warm up!
The wood details in the new cabins are so beautiful. They are not right on the beach but set up so that you still have a view out to the water, especially in winter with less foliage.
The older cabins on the beach have great views but also a variety of sizes and "rustic-ness", ask for advice and let them know what you are looking for to be sure it's appropriate lodging for you.A couple of them are very small(but still have the nice views).
If we came with our teens it would definitely be warmer weather -even Sept/October- and one of the medium/larger beach cabins.
The newer set back cabin was perfect for my husband and I, we loved that hot tub!!--you're looking at the forest in back when in the tub but can still (depending on the tide)hear the waves lapping at the beach--and the resort was very quiet this time of year. You would have less privacy in the summer with the hot tub as it's very close to the yurt trail--yurts are closed in the off season.
Bring all your groceries, there is just one store on the island with limited stock.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Pretty neat to get that "island vibe" with just a 5 minute ferry ride!
