We had a bit of hard time finding a japanese open restaurant in Kamakura off season. We ended up trying this small place and were enchanted. Go up the stairs and you arrive in a room with either japanese or european seating. You choose a meal from a short menu and then you get a just prepared bowl of fresh food to cook on the plancha in front of you. Mix of meat or seafood, verggies and kind of pancake cake. We had no idea how to cook it - the waiter was extremely nice and even though he did not speak much english, he showed us how to cook on the plancha. We had a lovely dinner and went back the next night!

This jem is close to the temple in Kamakura.
Yakisoba and Okonomiaki are the specialities here and you make it yourself.

The waitress gave a quick demonstration on how to make the food and the you get to do it yourself on the hot plate.

Service, like anywhere in Japan, was amazing.

Fun, tasty and exciting.

Wooden made restaurant with a nice raised view of Hase street, heading to Hasedera Temple.
In this place you can choose either to sit at a normal table or to lay down on pillows in front of a Teppan, the typical Japanese grill.
I have to say I didn't expect this, but as I ordered Okonomiyaki, that is similar to an omelette that can be filled with many ingredients (i chose shrimps and vegetables), the waitress came to say that I had to make it on my own!
It was sooo fun, she was very helpful and kind in explaining the steps I had to follow, and the result was quite good! Anyway they have several different Japanese dishes as well.
I'd come back for sure, it's been a unique experience!
