Amazon in the dry season has some advantages, but also shortcomings. On the plus side, you will find plenty of white sand beaches on the rivers. On the minus, your expected luxurious views of a flooded jungle won´t be there - the rivers have less 15-18m of water; and access to some attractions will be restricted or difficult.
Nature has its ways, of course, which affect jungle lodges in a strong way - don´t count on the pictures they publicize on the net.
I wrote the Intro for you to understand our surprise when we first saw the Lodge. It seats on a lake besides the Negro River about one hour from Manaus. But from April to November is Amazon´s dry season, and this year the lake was specially hit. The Lodge was bearly floating on muddy waters. But it´s nature anyway, we could accomodate to the facts of life in a short period.
The Lodge is as confortable as any urban 4-star hotel. Rooms have with enough space for wardrobe, working table, luggage and a fairly decent bathroom. Air conditioning and hot shower worked fine, refreshing features not always available elsewhere in that kind of hotel in the region.
You will find that the amenities - restaurant, reception, pool, bar - are comparable to any city hotel, dispite you are in the middle of the jungle.
The staff is attentive to cleanness and you won´t spot a single leaf or mud footprint in the Lodge at all times.
The food is simple but well done, with balanced choices of local and cosmopolitan dishes. But they don´t offer room service after 10pm, so don´t miss the schedule.
The real challenge to the management regards leisure/attractions. Even discounting the limitations of the season, management should dedicate more time and preparation to offer valuable options to the guests. Many times the program was changed in the last minute. Information was confused and, sometimes, misleading. We suggest that there should be at least 2 managers, one for the hotel and one dedicated exclusively to leisure/attractions/activities.
