This hotel was probably built in the 1960s and still has an old-fashioned essence although it is very well maintained and has undergone some updates. It is in a busy downtown shopping area just blocks from the Teatro Amazonas and the harbor where Rio Negro/Amazon River tours begin. There is a quality tour agency located in the hotel facilities. Several blocks away are some seedier parts of town (sailors in port kind of vibe). Rooms overlooking the street are noisy but back rooms are quiet. Hotel staff we encountered did not seem to speak any English. Room was clean and breakfast was fine. As another reviewer mentioned, there was only one towel in the room but we called downstairs and asked in Portuguese for another towel, which was brought right away.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are noisy but others are quiet.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Lider Hotel in June 2016. We arrived after 10pm and I will say the neighborhood was shut up tight and looked a little ominous on the cab ride. But once inside the hotel we were pleased with the accommodation. <Note, the hallways are NOT air conditioned so it may be very warm getting to your room.>
The hallways are quite spacious as are the rooms - we had a triple room with 2 twin beds and one double bed. The A/C worked very well in the room, almost too well as I was surprised to see the beds did not have blankets, only a top sheet. This made for a very uncomfortable night of sleeping for me as I was VERY cold. (I actually did not ask for a blanket, so my bad...) Turning off the A/C made the room very humid and the street noise very prevalent.

The area around the hotel during the day is teeming with people and cabs, it's the commercial center of the town. Currently the main street is under construction. We could walk to the Theatre, the main market and the boat docks...everything you could need is there.

The breakfast is ample with scrambled eggs, fruit, breakfast cakes and coffee. Definitely enough to start the day off right.

I didn't find any hotel personnel that spoke English, so communicating may be a challenge if you don't know basic Portuguese. There is a tourist office within the lobby, they do speak English and were helpful with some translation issues that we had.

All in all, an average stay, with no complaints. Good location if you want to be near the center of the action.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the street, will be quieter.

This was a nice hotel with friendly personel but on the other hand pretty old. It was located in a very noisy neighbourhood. On the other hand, it was clean and as we only slept there it was pretty ok.

We stayed at the Lider for one night prior to a mission trip on the Amazon. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was a power blackout in Manaus (not the hotel's fault, of course) so the only lights and a/c were in the lobby. What puzzled me was that the guy in the lobby didn't mention the problem so we all went to our rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors and found them extremely hot and couldn't turn the lights on. So we went back down to the lobby and that's when he told us about the blackout. It would have been nice if he had told us in the first place as we sat down in the lobby until the power came back on at 1AM. Then the room that we were given was on the street side which was very noisy so we requested a different room. The first room had three beds and was fairly large. The second room was about half that size but it was quiet. So then we went to get showers and found we only had one towel. We requested more towels by phone but when they didn't show up, we went back down for more. I've never seen a hotel ration towels before. The breakfast was okay....not the greatest but adequate. Another puzzlement was that two of our group were on the 5th floor and that floor did have power so they had ac and lights. I wondered why all of us couldn't have been located on the 5th floor. Upon return from the mission trip, we booked day rooms since we had a midnight flight out of Manaus. Again, the rooms only had one towel in each of them. We requested additional towels and they made it very difficult to get them. One of the reasons we wanted day rooms was to get showers. Again, why the rationing of towels? We weren't asking for lots of them----just one per person would have been nice. The rooms were kind of shabby and plain but the beds were comfortable enough. Hopefully, next time we are in Manaus we will be able to stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Get a room that's not on the street side as the street is very noisy at night.

This is a good hotel near the harbour, if you traveling on a low budget you could take this hotel because it was not that expensive! We payed 170 reais for both and stayed 2 days.
The staff brings your luggage to your room and the staff is helpfully.

My friends, my husband and I stayed in Lider Hotel for 3 nights in June 2015 when we were in Manaus. The hotel price were reasonable. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Free WiFi worked well in the rooms where we stayed. Hotel staffs were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was really good. The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is very close to the main attractions of the city, such as The Opera House (Teatro Amazonas), Manaus Municipal Market and Harbor of Manaus. They are all in walking distance, about 10 to 15 minutes. There is also a currency exchange center nearby. Highly recommended.

I was here in Brasil for the World Cup in 2014 with my friend following both England and Croatia!

When we arrived in Manaus we got our booking wrong and came to this hotel first, it turned out that we were staying in a different hotel first... lets put it this way, we were VERY happy when we came back to the Lider after our other experience!!

This hotel is perfect for Manaus. Its clean, presentable, it has air conditioning and the staff are lovely.

Manaus is my favourite city in Brasil so please go for a nice hotel and make the most of this incredible part of the world!!

Location is great... it's right in the thick of it and 100m from the square pretty much and 250m from where the harbour.

I would stay here again in Manaus but i would also look around for other hotels of the same budget or maybe spend some more to really get a great experience.
