Wyndham Garden Manaus
Ranked #24 of 47 Hotels in Manaus
Reviewed 7 August 2017

Wyndham Garden hotel is one of the best hotels in Manaus. WGH is located at the Ponta Negra beach where you can enjoy exciting sightseeing of the river. From there you are able to tour all possible places in the area.
Despite WGH is a nice building, rooms and all hotel furniture is too old.
The persons at the reception are very helpful, specially Libia and Gaio, sorry about the spelling of names but this two persons make the difference when it comes to service and support to customers.

Room Tip: After they change furniture then we can discuss what a good room is

You know, the views were GREAT! But the comfort an amenities, not so much. The bed was hard, their was a leak in the roof in our room. No free coffee either in the room or downstairs. No free breakfast. The restaurant is expensive. The hotel cost much more than I would pay for anything in the states.

Nice, spacious, safe, and clean hotel, well located to take boat trips or panoramic flights over the Amazon area. About 30 min from center, 15 min from airport, directly at Ponta Negra beach. Friendly helpful staff, great pool with view over the Rio Negro, good breakfast buffet.

We wanted to stay close the river and it doesn't come much closer than this. Right beside the Rio Negre and the beach at Ponte Negre. Great pool beside the river. Rooms are clean and comfortable and we had great views down to the bridge. Breakfast was basically all you can eat and a wide range of eats. A bit out of town but much quieter and safer. Pity the roads in this area are used for functions and parades and get closed regularly. This can make the trip from town tiresome. There is a bus stop nearby to take you to town for 3.6 Rs. The restaurant is good in the evening

I'll separate the pros and cons:

Pros:
* great wifi
* amazing swimming pool
* lovely breakfast

Cons:
* I came at 4am and the receptionist made me spent 25min to do the checkin which I had to answer lods of unnecessary questions and provide unnecessary data like Brazilian address and telephone number even though I saying I don't live in Brazil.

* I booked the room for R$509 by Booking.com, the receptionist tried to charge me R$1500 then I had to show him my reservation printed out so he fixed the value but it'd be so annoying if I hadn't seen it before give him my debit card.

* During 2 days and 3 nights I had to go back to the reception 5 TIMES because the cards wasn't working so I couldn't open the room's door.

* There wasn't any safe in the room so I had to ask for it in the reception which took half day to get it ready into my room.

* I had the worst dinner ever in the hotel's restaurant even though it was sooo expensive. Seriously, the juice was nearly just water, the spaghetti I could easily cook better and the Parmigiana wasn't parmigiana AT ALL.

* Staff were very unfriendly.

* Really bad shower.

* The guy kept waking us up everyday at 9am to check the fridge!!!

I'm so disappointed with this hotel. They have a name to keep but now I will think twice if not 3 times before staying in a Wyndham hotel again.

Just to let you guys know, this is the first hotel I'm rating with 1 single star and I've rated loads of hotels here. I wish I could give 0 stars instead

This hotel is located right on the Amazon River, Ponte Negra. The location is great and while the hotel is nice enough, the owners could do some sprucing up inside and outside.

When we opened our room there was a leak in the ceiling in the pot light just above the entry door. We went back down to the front desk to inform them of the problem and they told us to go back to our room and wait for the maitenance person to arrive. The leak was fixed within two hours and the hotel manager provided us with a fruit platter to make up for the inconvenience.Apparently the leak was caused by a permanent tenant that lives in the hotel room above us. It was explained that this person is allowed to do whatever they want and when he/she fixed a leak in their room they did it with duct tape instead of calling the front desk to have it fixed properly.

The room was large with a balcony facing the Black River (Amazon river, Rio Negro) , however there was no furniture on the balcony. There is a table and chairs in the room that you can take out there if you want though.

The room itself is nicely appointed but there were a few items that needed repair. The armoir shelf is broken and the curtins are difficult to open. There are obvious water stains on the ceiling above the front door.

The hotel has a restaurant. Dinner is very expensive but very good. Breakfast is included with your room and there are lots of options. However, you are not allowed to bring food or drink from the restaurant to your room and the coffee provided in the lobby is not free.

As you wonder around the hotel, it, and its views are beautiful but the hotel in general needs some upkeep. There are many areas that appear worn out and need some paint and repair.

Overall, my husband and I would give the hotel 4 out of 5 stars. Even though our room had a leak, the staff was extremely friendly and responsive when we informed them of the problem.

Located at Ponta Negra, close to the old and famous Tropical Hotel. The Hotel is trying to recover the prestige it has in years ago. It is doing well. Price is little high, very good rooms, especially the highest ones with good views, very good breakfast, but the restaurant is a little weak with good attendance.
