We just finished staying 6 nights at Opaba. I would highly recommend it. At first, we were leery based on some other negative recent reviews. We made a reservation elsewhere and regretted it! We switched to Opaba where the staff were unbelievable friendly, the food is delicious, and the rooms comfortable. The rooms aren't fancy but the air conditioning works well and the beds are comfortable. Don't let the photos fool you into thinking that the beds are all warped and uncomfortable. That's just the photo. The lobby is nice and has nice breezes as they often have their many windows open. The restaurant is open for 3 meals a day and breakfast is included and it's quite a spread of food. They are not chintzy with the food.

Yes, the airport is right next to it, but there are very few flights per day and it is simply a very brief moment of noise when a plane takes off. It's literally no big deal. We had no problems with not having running water in the rooms and no problems with construction noise. So on those other reviews, perhaps that issue is solved.

It's not luxurious by American standards, but it is quite nice and I would jump at the opportunity to stay there again. The beach is magnificently beautiful! And I can't say enough good things about the wonderfully friendly staff. It was a terrific stay.
