I originally booked a trip with the Iguassu Life Tours to the Brazilian side of the falls. Our guide, Nilsa, arrived promptly on the morning of our trip and spoke very good English. After learning that our group was English and had not been to Foz before, Nilsa took the time to point out many places withing the town, such as good restaurants, the bus station and a local supermarket where we might find anything we needed. This was extremely helpful as no one in our group spoke much Portuguese! Once we arrived at the falls, she advised us who to buy the best value rain jackets from and showed us where to buy the tickets. She then dropped us at the start of the trail and pointed out which direction to go in. Nilsa then offered to take us to the Argentinian side the next day for the same price as it would be on the bus. Unfortunately the weather was terrible so she rearranged her personal plans to take us the day after when the weather was looking up before dropping us at the airport. I cannot put into words how kind this was as we would not have had anywhere near as good a time in the storm the day before. To go into the Argentinian park you need to pay in paso's. Nilsa exchanged these beforehand and gave us a $1000 each so that we could buy anything we liked in the park before paying her at the end.

I cannot thanks Nilsa enough for her help, we would have been quite lost without her!

Iguassu Falls on both sides of the Argentine and Brazillian borders are truly fantastic, spectacular and mesmeric. HOWEVER,!!!! I do recommend that you take the trips from your hotel by taxi or public transport AND NOT VIA A TOUR AGENCY. We booked through Trip Advisor and Viatour and the bus was 40 minutes late for both trips - no apology or reason. Then you are taken by the bus and guides to a place for a stop to buy water bottles which of course is a high priced souvenir shop for which all the guides receive commission for money spent by tourists. So we could have got to the park around 90 minutes earlier but for this charade! As it was we missed two of the trailers on the Argentina side as we had to get back to the bus to leave for the hotels. Iguassu Falls is magic but the tour guides are a joke and I blame Trip Advisor and Viatour for their recommendations. Shame on you!

My husband and I planned to spend 3 days and 2 nights at Foz do Iguassu. I had been to the waterfalls before, but only on the Brazilian side. I thought "I Knew" enough, and that we could get everything done in less than a day, but I needed guidance on exploring the Argentinian side. We contacted Iguassu Life Tours and Nilsa was there for us from the beginning.

Long story short, we had problems getting the visa to enter the Argentine side. Our plans were ruined!

Nilsa Quickly pulled together a new itinerary. We got to see a Bird park and butterfly house, a Buddhist temple, a cultural show, three points, and incredible views of Paraguay. She was always on time and even though English is not her first language, she did her best to give us interesting facts and tips for enjoying the town.

By far my favorite part of the trip were the unexpected tours of places off the beaten path customized to our likes. I showed her a picture of a decoration at the hotel that I liked, and she took me to a store in downtown where I was able to get an amazing deal. We told he we were surprised by the price of bottled water, she turned it into a tour of a local supermarket, where we were able to stock up and eat the best (and most affordable) lunch on our trip. She even took us to a local Orchid shop where we were able to meet the owner and smell an orchid that smells like vanilla.

Nilsa made the trip unforgettable, and I am eternally grateful. She treated us like more than clients, we felt like guests.
