“Perfect Location!”

This hotel was great! All the rooms have an ocean view of the best beach in Buzios. They play relaxing music in your room (which you can turn on or off) and throughout the lobby. The serivce was great. Breakfast is included with your hotel stay and the ladies that servce breakfast are the sweetest. The staff is very warm and welcoming and is the amazing view. It is a short $2 ride from town. You can catch the city "combi" which is really a van that goes to and from town. Don't spend your money on a cab if you're willing to walk a couple of blocks. The only thing is that this hotel is locate at the top of 2 hills so you'll get a workout in, but so worth it!

We got a triple-bed bedroom on the 2nd floor for the weekend in Buzios. The hotel has a good location on the hills of Joao Fernandes beach which you can walk about 5-10 mins to the beach, however, you'll need a taxi to go to the central area.
Breakfast is well-served and you have got a decent view of the beaches, swimming pool was okay and you got a hammock on the room balcony.
In sum, the hotel got good view and location, recommended for the traveller who has a car (however not many parking spots in the property), good for couple. On the downside, the room is of normal standard and for me it is overpriced.

Weekend in Buzios. A brilliant idea, romantic, but not in the summertime. We were at the Pousada San Francisco last weekend. We chose a superior room. Beautiful view from the balcony. The view is the highlight of the inn. And maybe the only one. The suite, which looks clean, had a dirty hammock on the balcony. I like to use hammocks and I use it constantly. It should be washed when there is new guests. I handed over our dirty hammock to the maid who changed it for another one, from another apartment, which was also dirty. I realized that the inn has not such habit of washing their hammocks. Another discomfort was in the bathroom where there was no shampoo. The inn offers only soap and toilet paper. All this for a suite of more than $ 200 daily! Taking a bath with my rest of shampoo from a hotel in San Francisco, California, I thought why hotels and especially pousadas in Brazil are so expensive and of poor quality. The site of the inn said that the apartments are of high standard. We do not agree with such statement. The bed has a foam mattress of low quality. The bathroom towels of poor quality also. The cabinets are built into the wall and dusty. There's nothing high-quality in the apartments. In fact the rooms and suites are of mediocre standard, that would correspond to a three-star hotel or lower. The breakfast of Pousada San Francisco is also mediocre. The parking is very tight and has room for only four vehicles. Briefly it is another mediocre pousada sharply overpriced.

In Buzios a really nice place to stay - a little bit outside of the towncenter - but the location on top of a hill offers a nice view. We had a rent-a-car so we could get around easily.

Breakfast was fine - rooms simple but clean and nice.
We can recommend the B&B

this pousada had amazing views (when it was not raining). the staff is extremely pleasant though they speak very limited english. the rooms are pretty basic, but clean. because of the location of the pousada, in the middle of the mountain and among thousands of trees-- we were exposed to a TON of insects: ants (which looked like they were on steroids), mosquitoes, and spiders. I was ok with all that-- given the location. but you just have to expect that going in..... literally, we were flicking ants off of our bed every night. the pousada itself is extremely clean and they do a good job considering the elements.

oh, the breakfast is really yummy too.

The "pousada San Francisco" (incorrectly named on this site as "A San Francisco de Buzios" was better than we imagined even though the pictures on their website showed a gorgeous view and quaint decor. After going up a literally San Francisco (California) style super steep road we parked in the 3 parking spots in front of the hotel. As soon as we stepped in we were greeted by a laid back but polite attendant who, along with another gentleman take turns taking care of the 12 room place by themselves. They can probably pull this off beacause it was low season (we were the only ones there 2 out of 3 nights). When you walk out on the pool terrace you quickly forget about the small pool and look forward onto the spectacular combination of vegetated mountains and beautiful ocean setting. We stayed in one of the spacious "superior" rooms with a must-have balcony with hammok included. The rooms were modest but very clean and had the basics needed for a comfortable stay in a place where you will probably not be spending much time in if the weather is nice. The breakfast was included and was very satisfying with fresh tropical fruits and other goodies. We rented a car in Rio so we used it to get around. I recommend using a car or a buggy to visit the center strip of town and as many beaches as you have time to see because they are all spectacularly unique. The closest beach to the Pousada is Joao Fernandes which is a short distance away but a long haul up the hill on the return. It is a nice beach with restaurants but there were other that were even better (albeit with less infraestructure) . The only minor complaint that I had was the Internet which wasn't working in the lobby but I was almost glad I couldn't use it. The attendant was helpful when choosing restaurants, etc. The area around the hotel felt very safe. I definetely recommend it and would return to San Francisco.

We just came back from Buzios. We stay at Pousada San Francisco for the second time... and it seems to get better and better! The Pousada is on the top of a "morro" (a Brasilian version of a hill) and offers outstanding views from every room. Even on rainy days seem to have a special magic, you can enjoy the contrast of amazonian greens and the shades of blue sea.
At night their deck is extremely romantic and you can get even more romantic on your private balcony sharing the generous large hammock (even if you have 3 kids sleeping in the another room). Don't forget to ask for a caipirinha (by far the best I've tried in Buzios!)

Leaving apart the romantic part and bringing up the more pragmatic and realistic "mother of 3", the pousada is extremely clean and their bathroom showers are really a treat. My kids daily fight was about "who goes first?"! Incredible!

The staff is always willing to go the extra mile to make you happy. You may have to walk a little for the nearest beach but at the pousada they can help you contact a guy (Diego) who rents Buggys...

Brasil is paradise and the Pousada San Francisco may be a door to it!
