The town and beaches of Buzios during Carnaval are full of people escaping the noise of Rio - a little ironic, since they bring the very noise to Buzios. However this hotel is a place where one can escape the noise. The cabins are surrounded by palms, bamboo and other tropical and flowering vegetation. Bird life is however limited. The hotel has a nice pool and Jacuzzi. The Tartaruga beach is only a 5 min walk away. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We asked for an upgrade because the standard rooms are a bit small and mosquitoes can come through the veranda floor boards. After checking what we were paying we got an upgrade to the luxury room without any additional cost. The luxury room is definitely worth it: the veranda floor is tiled, so no mosquitoes from there (all rooms have mosquito wired porches and all windows are protected as well - there are no holes that I could see). There was a gap under the door however so we had one mosquito a night still until we bought some bug spray. Remember you are at a mangrove coast so mosquitoes are present. But compared to other places we have been they were not a real pest. One can sit outside during the day without being bothered and even during the evening it is just one or two.
It is best to have a car, since the place is some distance from restaurants (it has it's own restaurant but it opens typically only at 8pm although they will serve you earlier). The closest restaurants are in Manginhos. They are worth trying. Traveling to and from Buzios proper is a chore, since the streets are always packed during peek season.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the luxury rooms.

Excellent hotel in a beautiful waterfront location. Staff was exceptionally accommodating and friendly, and the secluded location is perfect for nature lovers looking to avoid the tourist scene in the city centre.

It was our first trip in brazil, booked this "4 star" hotel which was definitely not worth the money. The place is good for more elderly people and families but not from a young couple. Getting to the centro or to the beaches you definitely need a taxi. Rooms aren't the best , we found a lot of bugs and ants all over. If you order coffee expect to wait at least 45 mins for it to come.

Great beach view from all rooms, nice and cozy.
I recommend to get the luxury rom or above because the price difference is not much and the rooms are much better...

It has great rooms in front of the beach, breakfast is good. The hotel is full of trees, on the top of a hill and you can enjoy the great view of a sunset in the hotel`s pier.

We had a great time!
