“Sample The Best of Chile”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

Mapuyampay has it all. .....wonderful garden fresh food beautifully prepared, great Chilean wines, a peaceful and picturesque country acreage nestled against the foothills of the Andes but most of all friendly, interesting, talented hosts.
Mapu is about 3 hours south of Santiago (easy driving on super highway Route 5).Our spacious room was located in a separate building with 4 charming units each with soaring timbered ceilings and a porch overlooking the hills. There is also a large swimming pool.
Ruth, a renowned chef and her partner Vincente offer a unique country Chilean experience. On our "gastronomic weekend" we enjoyed exceptional meals and a cooking class featuring Chilean produce which was great fun.Much of the food was freshly picked from the extensive garden.Ruth, as Executive Chef for the Concha y Toro winery, is also well versed in Chilean wines and pairs wines wonderfully with her meals.
Our 3 days at Mapuyampay were among the best of our month is South America.

Thank you so much Ruth & Vincente for sharing your home, your great cooking, and yourselves, with us on our just completed trip to Chile. You provide a truly unique environment for travelers like us who desire a personal and relaxing environment. You combine simplicity with elegance. We loved everything from the animals, to the hacienda itself.

We stayed with Ruth and Vicente for 3 nights in early November and had the MOST FUN! We were traveling with another couple and all four of us took two cooking classes which we thoroughly enjoyed. Ruth's food is incredible and was the best we had during our 10 days in Chile. We stayed in the cabin which is so cute and comfortable. The porch outside the cabin was a beautiful setting for reading a book or drinking a glass (or two!) of wine. The grounds are spectacular and made for great photography. The best part about the stay, though, is Ruth and Vicente. You will not come across nicer people. They have a gentle spirit and it's obvious they love what they do. Be sure to include Mapuyampay in your travels to Chile; you will not be disappointed. I hope to return and soon! "Mapu" epitomizes the best of Chile; great food, delicious wine, beautiful scenery, and friendly, welcoming people. Viva Chile!

We were fortunate to spend 3 wonderful days at Mapuyampay. We had just come back from an exhausting 3 day stay in the Atacama Desert and could not have found a better place to rest up.
It is so beautiful and peaceful there and yet it is about 2 1/2 hours from Santiago and an hour from both the Colchagua and Curico wine regions. We had 2 rooms Africana and Namaste both beautifully appointed. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious but the best part of our stay was the Food and Wine Pairing cooking class. Not only did we learn some great cooking techniques from Ruth, we also got to eat our bounty paired with 4 fantastic wines. Ruth and Vincente were wonderful hosts. Staying at Mapuyampay was the highlight of our 5 week vacation. I hope to return again.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights with Ruth and Vicente and had a very enjoyable and relaxing time. The food was excellent and the farm surroundings very quiet. They are a short drive from Santiago and an excellent weekend get away.

I went to Mapuyampay Hostel 2 weeks ago, to celebrate my anniversary and I must admit that it was the best way to celebrate it.... The place is incredible... imagine that there is no signal, just you and the mountains, the clean sky and an incredible ambiente.
Ruth and Vicente are responsible for giving you a "foodie" experiencie and the do it very well. The cooking lesson teaches you a lot of basic things you must know if you want to cook properly and Ruth gives you many tips as well. Also you learn a lot about chilean cousine and different ways of cooking it. But the best is the end of the lesson, when you taste all that nice food you prepare with the rest of the team. Delicious!!!
Nice experiencie. Nice people . Fair price.

I wanted to spend one of my last weekends in the country in a wonderful, relaxing place that would offer me the best of Chile. Mapuyampay did the trick: amazing food, great wines, gorgeous countryside all around, wonderful warm hosts. I couldn't have asked for more.
