The hotel locates on a pretty nice area of Tunxi, a town many used as the base for visit to the most beautiful mountain in China. It has a contemporary appearance with beautiful Thai antiques and decorations! Room is of average size but nice and cozy! The hotel ground was well groomed with lots of flowers and green trees! The hotel rate was very affordable. it suites the need for guests looking for an upscale accommodation minus the overcharge typically accompanies such property! The only set back of this hotel is its staff lacking English proficiency! No one speaks English, but again, it's typical of hotel in China!

Here are my findings;

- Rooms are clean and nice, though might be pricey for my standard.
- WIFI connection was bad, if you are staying on the other block away from main building, you hardly get any signal.
- Location of the hotel is ideal as it is overlooking the river, surrounding was lively as there are convenient shop, cinema, fast food chain, disco and etc.
- The hotel does not have swimming pool nor gym.

The Parrion was a real surprise, having booked it without really knowing what we would be getting. But the twin river facing room we occupied in the East Wing was a delight and almost the best hotel we stayed in, during our 3 weeks in China. The room was of good size with tasteful wood paneling and some design touches that lifted it. The marble bathroom went the length of the room and included a bath on feet, by a window looking out to the river. The property it appears, caters almost exclusively to Chinese tourists and not too much english is spoken but the reception staff tried hard to help. All this for about 540rmb.

It’s a solid walk over the river to the “ancient street” perhaps a km. but well worth a visit, for the architecture with interesting shopping, aimed almost entirely at the Chinese tourist, and some good restaurants and bars.

We were in Huangshan to see the walk and see the Huangshan mountain but, as it rained constantly we were unable to complete this. We did get as far as taking the local bus to Tangkou,( 20 rmb, 1 hour). You need first to take a taxi to the somewhat grotty bus station (should be 10 rmb). From Tangkou you need to take the tourist bus permitted to go to the entrance and the cable car lifts. If this sounds convoluted we thought so too.A chinese tourist suggested a taxi to the mountain entrance should cost 180 rmb.

Taxi’s seem to be all by negotiation, no use of the meter. It appears possible to visit the mountain from Huangshan city, rather than stay in the very ordinary Tangkou or incur the cost of staying on the mountain, weather permitting.

It's park-like setting along the river is the first clue that the Parrion offers some personality usually missing from Chinese hotels -- even the good ones. The appointments and details are very nice but you will find some wood, glass and textiles rather than the usual floor-to-ceiling marble and chrome. Someone in the kitchen understands western food rather than merely imitating it. Service is attentive and comes with a big smile rather than the typical stone face. Personal requests are understood and made a priority. You could get used to this quickly. Now if it were only located across the river, steps from ancient street, that would be perfect.

Room Tip: You want the river view.
