It claims to be 4-star, but a maximum of 2-Stars would be more appropriate. If this is 4-Star then some hotels in Beijing and Shanghai can reach 10 stars! It looks like Gansu Province has its own classification system for hotels and tourist attractions.

From the exterior the hotel looks like a big yellow castle, almost like an outdated Disneyland with an elaborare Chinese Temple on the roof.

The rooms are old fashioned and have a bland and dirty feeling. The room we got had a strong smell of Medicine, maybe because it hadn't been occupied for a long time.

During our stay, the hotel had a maximum occupancy rate of 10-20%, as we never seen any other guests (apart from the extremely drunk men coming out of the hotel restuarant at night) so the lights were usually turned-off everywhere, giving a very dark impression inside.

The lobby area was very tacky with an overload of all sorts of unnecessary landmarks inside the lobby (like a bridge over water with fish in it, another area had a zig-zag bridge etc.).

The room rate was 198 RMB via C-Trip (didn’t include Breakfast, so we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel).

Stayed there passing by on a month-long trip to China. I was not impressed by the hotel. This is not a 4-stars hotel, as China Tourism describes it. China will have to be more consistent with this classification system in the future.

The hotel staff is friendly, even if english is limited. First, the hotel is dark all the time. Corridors and open spaces are not really welcoming. Maybe this was low season, but I felt like we were the only customers. The breakfast is the worse we had in China. They should not advertise the Western-style breakfast.

The room was rather simple. Nothing was missing, but nothing extraordinary. The weirdest thing was the window giving a view into the shower. There is a curtain, but it is on the room side... Never seen that before (See picture).

Another example of China unequal tourism offer.
