“Acceptable, but not luxurious”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

The rooms met basic needs, but it was by no means a 4 star hotel. Not super clean, but not smelly ar moldy. Upon arrival AC worked in only one of our two rooms. Meals eaten were adequate, but you wouldn't go there for dinner. Local food was much better than the western style (to be expected here).
Staff was very friendly and more than happy to help with anything we asked about.
View of the mountains out the back window was fabulous.

Room Tip: 3rd floor gets very warm because of the hot air rising in the central courtyard/dining area.

The hotel is decent enough, but I was shocked to hear that it had four stars. It most definitely isn’t that nice, although I’m not sure if Yangshuo has much more to offer. The rooms are starting to show their age and the breakfast wasn’t anything to brag about.

Spent a night here after travelling by boat up the amazing Li river. Not too far from West Street which is great for shopping (particularly if you like to barter). Rooms comfortable and hotel location fairly quiet; got a good nights sleep. Only had breakfast here which wasn't the best on the trip. Whilst here went to see Impressions of Lui Sanjay (not sure if thats spelt correctly), if you are here, its a must do.
Yangshup has an alpine resort/hippy paradise feel about it - lost of backpackers here.

The rooms were simple, but clean, dry and a pleasure to stay in. The breakfast was a little let down by the water powdered milk, terrible coffee and the not brillian lunch. apart from that, the hotel was nice and dry.

This hotel is situated near beautiful Yangshuo Park, 10 minutes walk away from the flagstone streets of the town centre. Guest rooms are large and attractively decorated, with high ceilings and 2 comfortable armchairs. The water pressure in the shower is good; A kettle and tea bags are provided but if you prefer coffee you would be well-advised to bring a jar of your favourite brand with you from home. You can use the computer proved in your room for 15 yuan (US$ 2.50) an hour or 50 yuan (US$ 8.00) for 24 hours.

Breakfast is served on the ground floor beneath multi-coloured sombreros, with a breakfast chef cooking eggs to order. For your morning exercise do climb the karst peak within Yangshou Park where locals practice Tai Chi. Within the town, off the main Xi Lie, streets such as Chengzhong Lu and Guihua Lu are fun to explore for souvenirs and outdoor bars/restaurants.

After dark you may want to catch ‘The Impressions of Liu Sanjie’ Song, Dance & Light Spectacular’, a twice-nightly show featuring a cast of 600 local cormorant fishermen, minority women and children, orchestrated by Zhang Yimou, the renowned film director who also orchestrated the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The colourful, kitsch show is performed 2km from town against a stunning background of 12 karst peaks. Tickets in Zone 2B will set you back 250 yuan (US$ 40.00).

Although this is a very well placed hotel in central Yangshuo, it was not of international 4 star standard. The bar staff were very helpful but front of desk were less so. In a 4 star hotel where you cannot drink the tap water, guests should not be charged for bottled water to brush their teeth! The rooms were adequate but a bit worn and dated. This was the only hotel on our 3 week trip where non-Chinese guests were given breakfast in a separate room. Our group of 8 enjoyed mixing with all the guests and this felt odd. The breakfast was reasonable but again not up to 4 star standard. It's OK but really not more than a middling 3 star.

I stayed for 2 nights in May as part of a China Tour by CHINA DIRECT. Hotel rather run down. Then main problem was their attitude to their guests. They made a big fuss about us paying for a bottle of water which they said we had not paid for and we said we had. They even stopped our coach to get the money. Their keeness to balance their books has not made them post the 7 postcards we gave them to post and paid for at reception. Even an email of complaint to the hotel has not been responded to!
I would not recommend this hotel to individuals or tour companies there are plenty of better hotels in Yangshuo
