We spent three nights at the Redmont hotel and were very happy with our choice.

We were in an “oversized corner room”which was spacious and very comfortable.

The bathroom was large and worked well.

The hotel is downtown and in a nice, historic building. It is easy walking distance to the Civil Rights Museum and 16th street Baptist Church. Also to the 4th Avenue historic district.

The car park across the road was $10 for 24 hours with no in and out privileges,or $27
for hotel valet parking in the same car park.

The downtown area has no life and restaurant options in immediate walking distance are limited.

I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Birmingham.

We generally do not stay in Hiltons.  But circumstances caused us to do two one night stays in Hiltons.  The first was in Birmingham, and the second was at the Paris Opera hotel.  These two stays confirmed that Hiltons are just not up to our standards.

We rented a suite.  It was not a suite. It was absurd.  The “living area” was large enough for one chair.  But it wasn't expensive so no matter.

On to issues that may not be important to frequent Hilton guests, and so may seem trivial to many readers.

The so-called suites are not really suites.  We had an executive suite. We always rent suites for two reasons.  One, we do not like walking into our bedroom. We want to walk into the living area, and the bedroom is accessed from there.  Hilton does something different. You enter down a little hallway, that leads to another hallway the connects the bedroom to the “living area.” But moreover, because the living area was so minuscule it was useless, it really didn't meet our needs for a space we can relax in, without have to sit on the bed.  I anticipate a living space comparable to the bedroom. Ok, you might argue that they provided the square footage, but they included two useless hallways in that calculation. In my opinion, calling that a suite is simply deceptive.

There is no turn down service.

Perhaps you are asking if we have such pompous expectations, why were we staying at the Hilton, in the first place?  We needed a one night place to sleep. We had gone to Birmingham to eat at Highlands Bar and Grill. I just thought it would be convenient to stay a short Uber ride from the restaurant, rather than a half hour away.  Best I could determine, the Hilton is the nicest hotel in downtown Birmingham.

Pros:

1. The staff at this hotel are wonderful. They're great, smile all the time, and really ask you if you are ok.
2. Good sized rooms
3. Decent amenities.

Cons:
1. Maybe extend breakfast for a bit?

Absolutely loved the hotel! I loved the historic look and the VIP treatment with valet service. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Always seemed to be in a good mood. Rooftop experience was great! Definitely would stay here again.
