“Beautiful Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

We stayed at this hotel in March 2012 in which we were in town for a soccer tournament. The hotel is kept up very well. The check in went smoothly & the rooms were spacious. We had a king bed with a sofa sleeper. The sofa bed mattress could have been a little more comfy but the regular bed was wonderful. We didn't have time due to the soccer schedule to utilize the pool, exercise or restaurants on site but they did look very nice. The hotel had a grab and go breakfast for the girls each morning. It was the same food each morning & wished there had been a little more variety. The foyer area is beautiful & spacious! I only wish that the hotel had free internet in the rooms compared to the other Marriott properties. Hotel is very close to the Summit shopping area but 280 (the main road in front of the hotel) can get really congested on the weekends & you need to allow time to travel on this road.

We went to Birmingham in April 2012 on business and stayed at 2 hotels before discovering the wonderful experiment the Marriott at 3590 Grandview Pkwy, Birmingham 35243 had to offer of which we are truly grateful. Lets start with the beauty of the place. It is beautifully laid out with beautiful landscaping and convenient parking. The Front Desk greeted us as if we were friends who just needed to meet. They greeted us with excitement as if they were so glad to see us coming, they were kind to us and very helpful and kept asking us about accomodations they offered. The processing into the hotel went very smooth as we were in town on business. I can still see the smile on the Front Desk lady's face as she helped me process in. I was so floored with the entrance and beauty of the place...it is truly awesome. The room was allergy friendly for me as I am Asthmatic..it was clean, they even made accomodations for us to have extra accomodations in the room which i felt was so thoughtful of them toward me personally. And the food....it was impeccable.....the dining, the food, the kitchen help, chefs, waitors and waitresses treated the way every traveler wants to be treated with kindness, promptness, courtesy....it was so nice we flat refused to eat anywhere else the entire week we spent at the Marriott....If you visit Birmingham you want to stay where customer service and kindness and paying attention to detail is key. I had a chance to meet the manager, Mr. Joe white. I just had to tell him how much we enjoyed our stay and the impeccable care his staff showed toward us. In the world of so much chaos and confusion, it is wonderful to know that there is a place where you can feel that your comfort and care means something more than just part of one "doing their job"...instead, you get the feeling the staff is glad you came and want to show you how they would like to be treated in how wonderful they treat you. R Folkes

Room Tip: One shop stop.....Mariott all the way!!!! You will not be sorry!!! Marriott or Not...at all!

I have stayed here quite a few times. Pretty comfy rooms, but everything else is pretty basic. Not much has changed in the past 7 years that I know of.

This is a suburban Marriott set in an office park with a beautiful water feature across the street. The hotel has a large meeting room, pool, exercise and restaurant wing and then a tower of rooms. Our room on the top floor was in a quiet corner. The hotel has large groups and lots of families on the weekend some of which are quite loud in the parking lot and public spaces and management makes little effort to control them. The bell service was excellent. We did not use the pool or exercise equipment but the pool looked inviting if crowded and the exercise facility was clean and well equipped. Our room was large enough for the two of us and the mattress was most comfortable.

Room Tip: Be a Marriott Rewards Platinum level and be very specific as to preferences.

I recently stayed at this hotel and from check in to check out my experience was top notch. When checking in the person behind the desk actually walked around the desk to hand me the key and oriented me to elevators, dining, etc. Walking around the desk was a very personable gesture, really made me feel my business was appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The young lady working the bar went out of her way to assist me. One of the employees had called in sick, my server was busy when I needed my check and the young lady at the bar came over and helped me. The concierge lounge served very good appetizers and the man working it was very outgoing and friendly, taking time to talk with everyone. I will definitely stay here again. Really top notch in everyway.

Room Tip: Concierge level is great

I have been using this hotel primarily for business each week for the past year and a half. The staff is genuinely friendly and the hotel itself is nice. The food in the concierge lounge could use some work but the food from the River City restaurant downstairs has always been spot on. Breakfast in the lounge on the 8th floor is good but the restaurant has an excellent menu and buffet. The staff is always friendly and eager to accommodate your requests.

Room Tip: Depending on your status you can request a room on the 8th floor which is where the concierge lounge...
