We stayed at Sunny and Gerard's place for 3 nights and truly felt at home. We were a big group, with kids and elders and hence had to customize a few things for us but no request was big enough for our hosts. The place itself is very tastefully done and kept and I wouldn't change much about that.
We had a chance eat in a couple of days and the meals sunny cooked up were delicious.
On our last day, we were keen to go see the lake but couldn't get the taxis in time. Sunny herself drove us around (multiple trips, given we were a large group) and made sure we saw everything we came to see!
The first day's walking initiation is great and something which sets the tone for the vacation.
If I had to nitpick on something, its the location. While in a very quiet village, if you are keen on making multiple trips to Dali old town (like we did), it can be a bit of a commute. Having said that, our hosts ensured that we had the cars whenever and wherever we needed them, so wasn't really an inconvenience.
If you are looking for a quiet vacation away from everything while being fed some of the most delicious bai and Yunnan cuisine, go stay with Gerard and Sunny.More
