This is effectively the kitchen of a family home in that the waiters are most happy when you allow them to bring you a selection of local dishes of their choosing. We were absolutely happy to be led in this way and were not disappointed in the least. We were served a feast of octopus salad which was the best we had all week, an sumptuous creamy prawn with gnocchi dish- this actually converted my gnocchi loathing husband- and a selection of local fish. They only serve local wine (no fizzy drinks or beer) and are proud of their lack of spaghetti, chips and cola- a unique experience and an essential visit for anyone after an authentic experience.

Lovely traditional food - home made gnocchi with prawns, Dalmatian style fish, roast vegetables, drunken figs for pudding - in a pretty restaurant with family photos on the walls. The owner is welcoming and helpful (he stopped us over-ordering and described each dish clearly). The walk up the flights of steps from St Stephen's Square is more than worth it.

Dino was an excpetional host and clearly very passionate about his restaurant! The other waiting staff were also very attentive and engaging.
We ordered the stuffed bread to start which was nice but I felt it was a little too salty, but that could be my taste. We also had the octopus salad which was really fresh and a very generous portion! For main we have the gnocci with shrimp which was delicious and the seabass, again very tasty! We had Grandma's coffee for after our meal but sadly it was not to either of our tastes but again that is probably down to our taste!!
I would recommend this restaurant and sadly the only reason I am giving it 4/5 is because we felt that the tables of Americans that were in there got preferential treatment e.g. after dinner drinks etc. and the waiter was more attentive to these tables which was a shame as it did put a little downer on our evening. However, I feel this is a recurring theme with service as we experienced a similar thing in another restaurant a few days later.

It is a great place, nice decoration and atmosphere. Although we went just 7 min before the kitchen was closed, the staff was very kind to let us eat.
I had pasticada with gnocchi. It was great. All the other food was nice. Ricotta and honey as desert highly recommended.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. There were tables around us where people were repeat visitors, which is a good sign. Food was good and we enjoyed our meal
