We was driving north from Dubrovnik curious about Makarska. We found a parking lot and walked in to the first hotel we saw, luckily for us it was the Biokovo. The service in the check-in was excellent and the lady working that afternoon was very helpful and answered all our many questions. We booked a room with a roof balcony for 1 night. The room was so lovely, the bed and the bathroom impeccable :-) We did not want to leave so we extended our stay with one night. We also got recommended a restaurant in the old town (Kalalarga) which was very good. My boyfriend is Glutenintolerant and when we told the hotel restaurant in advance they provided gluten-free bread for breakfast. The breakfast was ordinary but OK. We would love to come back. However it might be essential that we were there in the very beginning of the season, mid May, so not very crowded.

Room Tip: Top floor has best view.

Food in the hotel is very tasty Biokovo where purity and quality are one, any food is better than the other one and is a pleasure to have breakfast and dinner in the Hotel Biokovo. Everything is perfect.

Myself and husband have just returned from Croatia having stayed at this hotel for 14 nights. The hotel itself is in a good central position. Rooms have all been refurbished and were a good size. The shower was brilliant. There was a flat screen wall mounted TV with a good selection of channels to choose from and also WiFi available in all rooms. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our one disappointment was that we paid extra for a sea view but all we got was a 10% view of the sea and the rest was of the tree growing in front of the window. The views from rooms 103-108 -our room do NOT have sea views and the management should not be charging extra for them. On leaving I told the receptionist how disappointed we were and her answer was 'they all say that ' !! When I see the photo of the room with a balcony overlooking the sea on this website I want to scream !!

Room Tip: Rooms 103-108 do not have sea views so do not pay extra for them

We spent three days here during the final part of our croatian vacation. The room had a great standard, with a very good bed, the service was very good (although a bit disappointed we could extend a few days, but that's Croatia in the summer) and we ended up having dinner twice in the hotel restaurant shich was very good compared to much else in Makarska. Makarska probably isn't our destination of choice next time in Croatia, but Hotel Bikovo offered a peaceful oasis in this crowded place.

I have just returned from a hill walking holiday in Croatia and this was the hotel chosen by the specialist tour company. There is no doubt in my mind that it is a good choice. The hotel is very well maintained, very clean and has modern up to date rooms. As a bonus the location is on the sea front with some of the rooms having a sea view, others a view of a spectacular backdrop of mountains.
The staff are very good indeed and cannot do enough to help, their English is always good, in some cases bordering on remarkable. There simply is not a language barrier for British people and that is to the credit of the staff. The receptionists have very good manners to the extent that when I checked out Ana was able to correctly pronounce my Gaelic (Ancient Scottish Language) surname correctly without prompting despite the fact that it is pronounced nothing like it is spelt. I am used to my own countrymen and women getting it wrong all the time and I was very impressed.
Our group also used the café bar outside as a rendezvous in the evening and this is run as a separate franchise where drink and snacks are concerned, this part of the hotel is open to non residents. It is nice to take in the pavement culture of continental Europe whilst drinking a nice cold beer.
Food for residents is served within the dining area our group was on a half board arrangement. Few had any issues with the variety of food available at breakfast, however the evening meals were based on a self service buffet arrangement and were a little unimaginative. However to be fair if you wanted a la carte then you would have to pay for it.
To summarise I was very impressed.
