If you are looking for typical Ecuadorian food this would be a good stop. Right across from the cathedral. Buffett or order the the menu. Both good choices. Good service and atmosphere

We ate dinner there twice, once by coincidence on Valentine’s Day and it was interesting to see that the Ecuador customs were similar to Australia – wandering musicians, couples, ladies with roses, etc.

The restaurant was crowded, so understandably, the service took a while, but good. The food was excellent (I am still coming to grips with the large servings with a huge meat focus in South America). My wife‘s braised steak with eggs, salad, rice and fries with a tasty tomato sauce was huge and delicious – she said.
There are not many restaurants in this location, so we returned the next night.

I ordered the same steak dish (Churresco) and was not disappointed but the service was shocking, in a half empty restaurant. They had run out of vino blanco and our order was mixed up.

This is part of Unipark hotel - what sort of hotel is completely out of white wine?!

In the Unicafé restaurant located on the ground floor of the hotel with direct access from the street Clemente Ballén, it we were offered a renowned Lunch, Buffet and a variety of Ecuadorian gastronomy as well as the classic international cuisine, on Sundays we can enjoy a generous buffet, a great atmosphere accompanied by a warm and professional service, Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 24:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00 am to 12 pm Unicafé is a spectacular place where we could make reservations in this place can hold any type of meetings, employees at all times wary of any inconvenience or any request, the buffet is spectacular each of the dishes they offer such as the shrimp ceviche’s, desserts in diversities is a unique experience without any hesitation I would return as many times as necessary.

We called in here for lunch after a walking tour of the city. We opted for the buffet lunch because it seemed the easier option for English speaking out-of-towners. There was a choice of soup, either a shrimp soup or a minestrone. This came with a range of bread. There was also a good salad display and a choice of main dishes including both meat and fish. The dessert display included a range of small portions of different dishes so you can have a little bit of a few different dishes. Waiter service of drinks and plate clearing was good. We enjoyed our meal and you could have 4 courses quite easily, although we weren't hungry enough for that.

We stopped in Unicafe because it was extremely hot, we'd been walking a long time and they were blasting A/C. It is in the Unipark hotel which fits into the theme we noticed that hotel food is not good in Guayaquil. The food we got was decent, nothing bad, but nothing particularly good either. It was a more expensive than we were expecting so the value is just not there.
