“Mixed feelings!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

Just returned from 2-weeks at the Sea Club, Sharm El Sheikh.

Had some really positive aspects - the staff (could not be more friendly and helpful), and the hotel grounds/rooms (beautiful setting), but unfortunately let down by a few aspects. A couple of them are outside the control of the hotel - such as the large amount of rude russian guests and the buliding work going on next door (huge amounts of dust and noise) but the one thing the hotel could improve is the quality of the food.

The hotel has to cater to a large cross section of guests/cultures however this does not excuse the cold food or lack of choice. The hotel seemed to be on a budget drive - the meat options (just 1 or 2 per meal) is given out by a chef at a station in tiny amounts and if you ask for more, its very reluctantly given. Ice-cream was only served twice during the 2-weeks and again its controlled by a chef, and in tiny little plastic containers. I lived on bread roles mainly for 2-weeks -they are fresh daily.

If you want ice cream in the day/by the pool, then you have to pay (never come across this in an all inclusive before).

Also be prepared for the selling that goes on. The chaps from the beauty salon and the diving club and so on - there are lots of them and they just roam around the pool/beach trying to sell to you. Unfortunately it all starts out nice - your name, their name, where you are from etc etc but when this is happening 4/5 times a day, its gets irritating. I was asleep on the beach one day, when felt someone tapping me on the shoulder. I looked up and there stood a chap asking if I wanted a pedicure! Was not impressed and this happened more than once. Avoid the chap selling newspapers - he charges the earth and never has any change, got quite nasty when I insisted on either money back or a free paper.

Couple things that were not mentioned in the holiday brochure, there are stairs only (no lifts) so if you have buggys/prams/wheel chairs, it can get difficult. Its quite steep in places from the beach back up to the main hotel, so if you have trouble gettting about, again it can be difficult.

The entertainment is mainly in russian so if you are looking for a lively evening entertainment programme this is the not place for you - you cannot walk to anywhere outside of the hotel due to the distance so be prepared to take taxis if you want a change of scenery.

I have just returned from a week at sea club with 3 friends. I found this hotel to be above average, the rooms in honesty could do with a little upgrading as could the bathrooms but they are large and clean, the beds are so comfy, we had a flatscreen tv, mini bar, safe, loads of wardrobe space, the cleaner was fab and really couldnt do enough for us, made us some fabulous creations with towels and sheets and flowers etc. There are loads of sunbeds by the pool and on the beach we never struggled to find four together, the pool is huge but looking a little scruffy, just wear and tear though. The hotel itself is spotless and very beautifully kept, the gardens are stunning. The food was pretty good, there was some odd things now and again but you have to remember they are also catering for other nationalities. We never went hungry at all and there was always something you could find that you liked and plenty of it - except tomatoes strangely? The beach restaurant is lovely for a nice lunch, the barbecued chicken was gorgeous. The majority of the staff are excellent, they love the English and cannot do enough for you, there is always someone around to help you for drinks, food, towels etc etc. We all had a turkish bath the first day and highly recomend it it was an experience and the staff were fabulous. The trips are plentiful and one down side is you do get hassled a lot in your first few days to buy trips, spa treatments etc, we found as long as we were polite but firm they eventually left us alone. The beach itself is lovely and just a few metres in the fish are amazing so even if you are not a great swimmer or a bit apprehensive as I was you only need to paddle along the shore to see the most amazing sealife, you have to take swim shoes though, we saw people with cut feet, you can buy them here for under £5 or the little shop on site sells them for about the same price. The one negative thing about the hotel is the rude, rude Russians!! however this is the same in a lot of hotels in Sharm and the staff do not take kindly to their rudeness either. Myself and my friends all had a little bit if a tummy bug in the last few days but nothing major, it didnt stop any of us going out and about and could be down to several things, the sun, the alcohol etc. Do take plenty of suncream the wind fools you into thinking its not as hot as it is and also take insect repellent for all insects not just the mossies as I have come home with a few ant and sand fly bites. Fabulous holiday though and a beautiful place

Overall this hotel was very nice, clean rooms, friendly staff and good food. As the title states there was some rude Russians, sharmel sheik is a Russian touristy place so whatever hotel you go to your going to get the same problem but they were so ignorant and wasted so much food, one night we saw a girl get about 8 bananas and 5 apples that they put them straight in there full rucksack that was next to them. The food was very nice and there was a huge array including pasta, salad and fruit. By the pool there was a lot of sales men trying to sell things from massages to quad bicking excursions we payed to go on a stargazing excursion but was very disappointing we were told it wasthesame as the first choice version but when we arrived it turned out not to be to start with we went to ride on camels but a man and his son got on and they both fell off and the evening went down hill from there. This was not the hotels fault but just be carefully who you give your money to.

My 3rd time to Egypt, 2nd time to Sharm. Experienced traveller. 11 nights end of March 2012

Weather - Hot with slight breeze, a lot cooler at night so take a cardigan or two.

Hotel - Really clean, well kept. Although no Lifts. Not suitable for children in pushchairs or people in wheelchairs. Floors all marble so potential for slipping! Especially after a few drinks.

Food - the worst i have ever tasted. Was eating donuts for breakfast and chip buttys for lunch every day as I couldn’t stomach the mashed foul, catered for Russians. Ate out quite a lot for dinner!! Book on your arrival day for the non buffet restaurants as they can never fit you in. especially if you’re a big party.

Drink – you can literally have the basics, beer wine, local spirits, and soft drinks. There is an option to pay for bottled beer etc, not really why you go all inclusive though. There is a 24 hour bar.

pool - not heated absolutely freezing. Again the kid’s pool was not suitable, as not easy to get in and out. Sunbeds were excellent, big wooden sturdy ones with a good padded cushion. Plenty to go round too. Never had trouble getting one each morning. The towels they give you too are big and able to change for fresh ones as often as you like.

money - get a better exchange rate at the hotel. we got 8.5 LE to a pound in England, they were doing 9.5/6 in the hotel.

Out and about - Soho square, good for shopping and a drink as they are not allowed to hassle you there. Everywhere else is a free for all. hassle everywhere. Nabq bay has a few English bars, etc. worth a trip to Naama bay, but only go if your prepared for the hassle and like the hustle n bustle. Ate in the Little Buddha restaurant, best meal in 11 days. Taxi into Naama costs about £7 and £6 to Soho square. Barter with taxis before you get in, unless they are hotel taxis and then it’s a standard price.

Entertainment – kids club all in Russian. however they did do a kids buffet in the main restaurant that was cool. Didn’t watch a show as they were outside and a bit cold. Did a good karaoke night inside. There is a “nightclub” inside the hotel again you have to buy drinks in there.
Staff – really friendly, and love the English.

Health spa – during the day at the pool or the beach you are harassed over 20 times a day to book for a massage or beauty treatment. I have had a few massages in my time, but none that actually bruised me after!! I had a foot massage that left me hobbling. We went in a large party and over 10 had massages, not one could recommend them. If you do have a treatment book with AMR as he is honest and really helpful. He helped us with more than the health spa.
Rooms – spacious, got everything you need. Cleaner could be a bit better. Didn’t clean properly every day. Made swans and hearts out of bed sheets. Safe in rooms.
Airport – don’t buy a visa at airport unless you plan on going out of sharm. Naama, nabq, Soho square are all sharm and in Asia, if you want to go to Luxor or Cairo then you will need to buy a visa. Airport is tiny on return and ridiculously expensive.

Room Tip: ask for a room nearer the beach if you dont want to be kept awake by the nightclub music.

We went to Sea Club Resort Hotel the last fortnight in February and really enjoyed our stay. We were on the edge of the resort in Block 3 facing Sea Life Resort and still had a sea view even though we had not booked a sea view, which was good. The room was very good and very clean, though it was quite a walk up to the main building for the reception and main restaurant, though we were on the same level as the pool and beach. We did not go to the main restaurant for lunch but ate at the beach restaurant which was very good. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, expecially the waiters in the main restaurant, I would mention particularly Haitham who was always on hand. The pool area, which we only used a couple of times as we prefer the beach, was alway kept very clean, as was the beach. There was quite often a breeze which was sometimes quite strong, but the beach staff were always there to help place the wind shields as required. There was always a good selection of food at breakfast and dinner, no complaints there. We particularly enjoyed the al a carte restaurants, sea food which is on the beach, and the japanese which is in Sea Life Resort, both excellent and certainly are not to be missed. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel, but be aware that it is quite a rise from quite a few of the rooms to the main building where the main receiption and restaurant are located.

just had 2 weeks at the sea club resort...lots of places to eat so always something, the staff very pleasant, our room was great, flat screen T.V. coffee/tea making (not all the rooms are like this) the pool area was good all very clean, loads of sun beds around the pools & beach so no getting up early which was a pleasure.. the hotel was in the middle of nowhere, the entertainment was awlful and not for the english the rep said this was a problem, we would not go again to this hotel as we would rather be in the centre of Nabq bay.. if you have already booked no problem i'm sure you will have a fab holiday ....just note there was loads of noisy building work going on while we were there..
