“Great Staff-Nice Hotel-Awful food & lots of Russians”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012

As usual you read the views and still never quite sure what to expect.
I had no complaints about rooms. They were very clean, comfortable and nice and large. The towels were changed everyday and there was a free safe and Sat TV. We also found the firm bed comfortable. The gardens were very attractive and well kept.
The staff were always very polite helpful and so friendly (except the chefs who served the meat outside who were surly and if you dared to lift the lid of the terrine to see what was in there then expect their wrath!!) It would have been helpful if there was a note of the dish as sometimes you would que only to find it full of chopped liver (twice in 1 week) I turned vegitarian due to the lack of meat and what was on offer was of such poor quality. They also served tiny chicken wings as an evening meal, they slapped two on the plate and then just turned away.Another night it looked like sparrow but they said it was Quail!! The alternative to this was always the same fried fish but it was undercooked and often slimy. The overal dining experience wasn't good and the problem was the Russians would push you out the way and fill their plates to overflowing. I agree that the Mexican was probally the best meal of the week. There was always plenty of cabbage and other vegetables together chips and at least 3 types of rice. We had never experienced such tasteless awful food and it is the 4th time we visited Sharm. The exception were the cakes and pastries which looked wonderful and they were very well presented.
Good choice of pools with swim up bars and water slides that look attractive at night when lit up. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols. The pool guy was also friendly and helpful, adjusting your lounger to make you more comforable and supplying towels. The British seemed to keep to the pool by the reception which was the quietest but the water was freezing. The middle pool was heated but you were totally engulfed by vodka swigging Russians and loud music. If the weather was not so good in the evenings there was only one small indoor bar above the reception but it was very uncomforable due to the thick fog of cigarettes smoke.
There is building work going on in the resort, adding more rooms and a much need larger reception and seating area but to be fair it didn't bother you too much as very little noise.
The resort has a spa and small gym. The spa staff were lovely too and offered a good choice of treatments. There was a tennis court advertized but it was not open as building work was taking place.
Short walk through the tunnel to the beach and reef. Better area further down the coast where here is a much larger area to snorkle.Plenty of sunbeds and windbreaks on the hotels private beach.
The holidays was cheap for all inclusive so I guess you only get what you pay for. Take away the food and the rest of it was more than exceptable for the money.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool by reception are quiet compared to rooms by the restaurant. First or second f...

The resort was nice overall but the rooms was terrible, stayed in 4106 nice view as requested but was not exective like we asked for, the cleaner was not great as the basic of the room was cleaned and others not, had a major power cut for a while and twice had no hot water for the whole day!

When there was hot water, it was murky in colour from the sink

Would be okay to stay for a few day but no more. The royal rehana resort across the street would be a better choice

Stayed 28/2/12 - 06/03/12 I was expecting an awful hotel due to the reviews on here but they must of had a bad experience. When you get out of the airport there are plety of ppl there to help with your case so they get tipped (they like english pound coins) transfer by taxi didnt cost much and we were @ hotel in about 20 mins. we had a room near the reception (6007) it was quiet there away from all the russian revelers!!. The room was basic a mortuary slab for a mattress but the choice of 3 pillows. The hotel is more or less next door to the mosque so you do here it 4/5 times a day and at 4am. The rooms were cleaned daily and clean towels if you wanted them. We stayed round the pool near to reception most of the time its cold but you do adjust!! Had i of known there were so many flies i would of took a can of fly spray - im not joking you cant lay in piece on the sunbed if the flies werent getting on your nerves the staff trying to flog you papers ( £4 for yesterdays papers,) scuba diving, quad bikes massages and so on . I did have a massage and it was very good but you do have to haggle with prices with everyone dont pay the first price just pay what you would at home, some shop holders are so desperate if you say a price and they say no walk out and they will shout you back in and agree. The main dining room was nice plenty of tables there is no-one manning a desk you just go in a find yourself a table and they will reserve any table you want by putting bread/salad on it. The food was nice but always luke warm - they serve meat outside which is a pain in the bum cos its cold by the time you get back with it. The russians are ignornant sods they will just push in front of you to get there 12 plates of food. The evening entertainment what we saw was ok it said fire show and what we got was a man laying on broken glass so we didnt bother going again. The bars up above reception are small, 2 pool tables and mosquitoes so take some repellent. At the airport in sharm you scan main suitcase and hand luggage then go to a check in desk check your cases in and go to passport control you then put your hand luggage thro the scanner again. This is where they tried to take my hair straightners off me because they were metal??? this is a scam they get yours H/S and sell them on i could of gone back to check in found my suitcase and put them in there but why should i when they are trying to con you. I stood my ground and refused to hand them over and refused to go back to check in. In the end they gave up and let me keep them if they hadnt of done id of snapped them so all that they could do was bin them. So be aware. The tunnel to the beach only takes about 10 min walk and there is a little cart that runs so save your legs. All the staff are very nice and its a lovely hotel but may need a bit of TLC here and there because they are building a new reception other things are getting forgotten i think.

Room Tip: take fly spray, mosquitoe repellent. Pound coins for tips - if anybody asks to change money from co...

Having read several poor reviews of this hotel we were very surprised to find that none of the bad reviews we had read about were true. Our experience could not have been better. The hotel was clean, staff were exceptionally attentive and more than friendly. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable with views over the swimming pool and well kept gardens.

The food was good and even better in the speciality restaurants within the hotel which we used on several occasions. From our experience this hotel did not deserve the negative reviews I'd read about before going and would definitely consider a further holiday at this hotel.

As a side note, there is an excellent animation team under the leadership of Sam. The animation team provided dancing, exercise and games supervision all day long. Sam was particularly helpful and friendly and helped make our holiday special.

This year we found that ths food/menu had changed tremendously, there was always something to eat if you reguired something differnt all you needed to do was ASK the chefs will go out of there way to help you and to make your stay a very pleasant one.We would also like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful staff
