“Best prime rib ever”
Reviewed 5 November 2011

Most of our group had prime rib and the plates were cleaned. They have a generous green salad included--it was also delicious and very fresh. Local coconut pie was not part of the special but was delicious. Congrats to our waitress Janice/Janet for a great job and to the chef and owners

“One of the best places to eat on Roatan Honduras”
Reviewed 14 October 2011

Top notch restaurant and Bar” The Hungry Kiwi Café & Bar”
After the first morning of exploring beautiful Roatan we decided to stop at the Hungry Kiwi Café & Bar for a late lunch .
When we planed our vacation to Roatan we read the reviews on trip advisor where to stay and where to eat in Roatan. “THE HUNGRY KIWI CAFÉ’ & BAR” caught our attention because we like to eat good food while on vacation.
The owners from South Africa are extremely friendly and make sure their customers received only the best. Their waiters, are efficient and "on it". In addition, they were very personable and made you feel at home. We made an excellent choice, their service outstanding!!!!. I had not expected to find a great restaurant or good meat in Roatan. Keep in mind you are on an Island ordering any type of red meat or fish it is bound not so fresh ,to be overcooked or not so available at all ! The majority of vacationers expect that everything should be to their standards or better traveling to a third world country. We ate at several restaurants on the island where the food was over priced, over cooked and not anywhere near the quality and freshness that they offer at the Hungry Kiwi. Wonderful restaurant, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic, CLEAN, fresh food, soft music and comfort with AC inside. Wonderful, laid back atmosphere, very safe area with lots of parking ,is off the beaten path away from the hustle and bustle, of West Bay & West End and fantastic food. The food, fish and meats perfectly cooked, and the sides were delicious.
WE did not miss their Prime Rib or Roasted Lamb dinner nights, it is the absolute best prime rib (Special imported from the US) we ever had. No wonder that everybody talks about their prime rib. As a meat lover/carnivore, The Hungry Kiwi ranks right up there with the best meat anywhere in the US. cooked to perfection.
They are open every day of the week accept Sundays, even during the “slow season” Not all vacationers are aware that some restaurants close during the slow season. This was so convenient for us this time of the year(slow season), we eat there about every day, breakfast (coffee best you will find anywhere on the island), lunch and dinner. Very affordable best BANG for your Buck any place on the island. We tried the Coconut pie and other deserts all very yummy. Every thing off the menu is delicious. We eat there everyday and went back for more because they make it interesting for their customers and prepare different dishes daily . Very safe place to eat, it’s not easy to find a place like this where you can feel comfortable to where and what you eat known that the meat , seafood and produce are clean & fresh. Just try the fried calamari, Fish, Shrimp or fish salad and decide your self.
In Roatan it is hard to find places who accepts credit cards but at
The hungry Kiwi they accept creditcards which was a big plus for us and we did not have to worry about exchange rates/math ,tips etc. or have to carry a lot of cash on us around the island. I rated this the best restaurant to eat on the island period.
Thanks Hungry Kikwi we enjoyed every time we ate there with my family & friends, we will be back soonI
