“lovely friendly place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

Along with the other reviews, we had a wonderful time because of the personal welcome from Anil and his wife and family,. A charming place to stay where the family atmosphere is very welcome and where you can ask any questions about the area, the people or even the culture. We enjoyed meeting them and also the fantastic walk in the tea plantation, green peaceful, delightful, probably one of the best parts of our holiday.

Room Tip: each room seemed lovely , we had a ensuite, very quiet and cool.

Only stayed here for two nights but wish it had been more. Anil and Jeeva are the most incredible hosts offering such hospitality. Our evening walk with Anil was so informative and just wonderful to see the manicured tea plantations. The food is simple homecooked Keralan style - always plentiful and served piping hot - delicious. The fresh fruit is something to be remembered. These are really warm people - felt like we were staying with good friends.

We just loved it here, it is so idyllic. We stayed for 2 nights in January 2012 and wished we had booked for longer. Out of the 15 hotels / homestays that we stayed this was definitely our favourite although we stayed at some amazing places.

A beautiful home, set in its own grounds in a stunning location with terrific hosts in Anil and Jeeva. The 3 letting bedrooms are on the first floor. We had a double room at the front which was very clean and comfortable with a large bathroom with lots of hot water. We had stunning views from both a large front window and a side window. The room also has satellite TV with quite a number of English channels.

On our journey by car from Cochin we had stopped and had a tour of a Spice Garden. Anil took us on an evening walk through tea plantations to watch the sunset over the hills which was absolutely beautiful even though the sun disappeared before sunset. On the walk Anil pointed out just about everything that we had seen growing at the spice garden. Wonderful area for bird watching.

Breakfast and evening meals were taken on the veranda overlooking the hills and this was so relaxing. The food was delicious and varied both vegetarian and meat, with fresh fruit for dessert.

If you just want to sit and relax you can do so on the verandah or sit in the sun on a lower verandah.

Anil and Jeeva are helped by two staff and they are very friendly and efficient. We had laundry done and it is very reasonably priced.

Anil can organize hikes, and cars and has lots of suggestions for things to do. Munnar itself is nothing special but the surrounding countryside is amazing.

All in all, we cannot recommend the Royal Mist enough. We hope to return next year and we will stay for at least a week.

I had a great stay at Royal Mist. Anil and the family were extremely welcoming and helped me in organising my visit including a car from Kochi and a guide for hiking. The views of the surroundings are stunning especially on the evening walk around the local area. The rooms are extremely comfortable with reliable hot water, very clean and comfy beds. I don't believe there can be a better place to stay in Munnar.

Our 2 days at Royal Mist were one of the highlights of our Keralan holiday, mainly because of the warmth and friendliness of Anil and his family who made us so welcome. We found Anil's information and help with the walks invaluable. It made us wish that we had chose all homestays and not bothered with hotels, which are so much more impersonal.

Beautifully set guest house in a beautiful Indian city, owned and run by the nicest family. Anil and Jeeva, our hosts, made sure that our stay was perfect. Jeeva's delicious home cooked meals are served on an outdoor terrace. Anil willingly will lead hikes or walks that display the grandeur and natural abundance of Munnar.
