Its good dhaba food here. You can even pack food to go if you wish. Its not too spicy either. The lassi is great. The service is poor. It took long for someone to even take our order. The ambience is simple. The approach road is narrow and is not car accessible. You may have to take an auto to get there.

You can love it or loathe it totally depends on what you seek.
1) its in the lanes which are difficult to tread unless with a local
2) its all vegetarian
3) the food is spicy
4) it is soaked in ghee
5) though one thing I'd vouch for is their crisp Parathas and their amazing desserts, worth the visit.

This restaurant features amongst the top 2-3 on Trip advisor and hence we decided to visit the same. The place is not easy to find and is in the narrow by-lanes, walking distance from Golden temple and google map can guide you. But the best way is to hire a battery rickshaw from the parking area of golden temple at Rs. 10 per passenger.

The dhaba will give you an authentic dhaba feeling and the food is quite rich with lot of butter and ghee in everything. It is famous for Baigan Bharta, Rajma, Daal Makhni , Aalo Gobhi and kulcha/naan.

The Quantity is less and food is quite expensive from a Dhaba point.

For almost 50 years my life's ambition was to eat at the Kesar. Unfortunately the visit left a very bad taste in my mouth. The approach is very bad. The place is crowded. Very low class. The food is oily and rich. Lacks variety. Totally avoidable place.

Kesar da dhaba is so famous for their thalis that this happened to be my first stop in Amritsar. Their hearty thali includes choley, signature dal makhni with a butter and Mirchi tadka, lauki ki raita, achar and salad. Their laccha parantha are a must have. Choose the stuffed kulchas not with the thali but just the raita for a milder experience.
