“A nice bit of traditional Thai”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2011

There are different types of room available at this place - we opted for the cheap bamboo hut option.

Well, we weren't disappointed! It really was just a bamboo hut with a fan and a small wet room-style bathroom. It was, of course, very basic, but that is what you're signing up for. There is no luxury here, just you and the sounds of the night. This is, of course, reflected in the price, which was around 400 bht per night.

I really enjoyed it and would recommend anybody to give it a go if they fancy trying something a little more authentic and a lot less western.

Another great thing about this place is that the owner speaks perfect English (as she used to be an air-hostess) and is more than happy to give you some tips for seeing the city.

Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights during our travels around south east Asia. We arrived around 12 which we thought was check in time but were then informed that check in wasnt until 2, we left our bags and went for a walk to try and find food as we had arrived via the sleeper train. There was no where near there open so we walked about 20mins down a busy road and found somewhere. When we did go back we could check in. The room was nice although had 2 single beds when we requested a double. There were giant cracks in the woodwork so plently of insects around. The bathroom was okay, just abit awkward showering right over the toilet and make a watery mess. Breakfast was lovely and the staff are all very pleasent and attentive and speak amazing. I would not stay again but thats because i would ever go back to Ayutthaya as the temples were a little dissapointing and the roads were coated with rubbish causing a constant smell.

We stayed for only one night but it was amazing, we stayed in a little bungalow (it was hot) but the bed was comfortable we had free water and the bathroom was spotless and the cold shower was really refreshing and needed!
The little porch area with mats and cushions made it perfect for relaxing. The breakfast was free and really nice and it is located near two of the main temple sites away from "little Koh San".
Ayutthaya is well worth a day or two as the people are real and not too geared up for tourism, the only problem with the area is that there are a lot of dogs running loose but if you stand your ground we didn't have any problems.

Everything was perfect for us. Just what we were looking for : clean bedroom and common rooms, excellent and healthy food (simple and no big choice but sometimes that's better), very nice and friendly staff. First time we felt like guests. You feel that is not a business only for business.

We stayed here 3 nights in the end, and the friendly hosts of Chomanard Hut really made our stay! We stayed in a traditional bamboo hut, and I would definitely recommend that. What an unique experience!

When 1 of us got sick, they did everything to comfort us. They went to the market to buy fresh fruit, they brought tea instantly, they gave medicine and they even brought some flowers! What an hospitalty!

The food is DELICIOUS and really cheap as well, the host makes it for you and brings it to your hut. They organize cheap tours which are really good and informative, really a must. For 50 bt you have a bike for the whole day and for 250 bt a scooter (we did both, and especially on the scooter we had so much fun). It's the perfect place to completely relax and get the taste of the Thai lifestyle.

We stayed only one night there, but still enjoyed it fully. The rooms were very new and clean. A little bit more variety at breakfast would be nice, but their homemade bread was still tasty. Location is perfect, directly next to the historical center of town.
Also the staff and owner are very friendly. We were happy about their offer to give us a ride to sites, restaurants and train station (of course for a fee), so we did not have to get annoyed by any tuk-tuk drivers.

Room Tip: Use telefone number on their website to reserve!

I was brought to Chomanard early in the morning by a tuk tuk driver. I ended up right across the street from the main temples. Chomanard is a recently opened renovated teakwood style home. The owners Mei and Surin instantly made me feel like home. They translated Thai movies for me, treated me to lunch, cooked for me when the main cook was gone, and baked me fresh made bread. I can honestly say nothing bad about my experience there. It's places like this that makes travel memorable and worthwhile!
