My sister and i visited Layana for our sister trip on 18 to 21 Sep last year. I decided to write this review because i have yet to encounter another resort that is as good as this!

The staffs were extremely friendly and greeted us whenever we go. They got the timing right for making up our room. The environment of the resort sent you to full tranquility away from the busy city-life. There is a library which they have a public computer, free to use whenever you want. Plus free DVD rental as well! I love their complimentary daily fruit basket too.

We went during the monsoon season and most of the adventure activity couldn't be carried out. But we manage to join the elephant ride tour, which made us regret. The trip was disappointing since the engaged company's elephant was not cooperative during the ride we only took a 5min ride instead of the 40mins stated and paid a full B$900+ each. It was sad to see how the trainers are treating the elephants for tourist entertainment. However it's not Layana fault at all.
Since it has been raining throughout our stay, we were really please to hear from them that during monsoon season, a complimentary voucher would be issued if it rained for 6Hrs continuously. You can use the vouchers for dining or spas treatment! But we didn't manage to get the vouchers since it didn't rain long enough.

Since this is a spa resort don't worry about going out of the premise for spa treatment! Well, we did tried their massage for 2 days since it has been raining daily. The first day we had Swedish massage and deep tissue massage. The following day we tried hot stone massage and herbal massage each. Ambience is good, relaxing and with sufficient privacy.

We had all our meals in their restaurant daily, breakfast is the same daily with the wide selection of western food. Dinner we chose their thai food set meal with reasonable price for 2.
If there's a chance we would definitely visit again during a non-monsoon season and join in their other outdoor activities.

This place is really excellent. The rooms are wonderful. I suggest you go with the garden suites where you're more likely to have quiet and privacy. They're a very short (30 second) stroll to the pool. The Ocean Suites are right by the pool, with pool-goers looking over you. The beach suites are (erm...) by the beach, but again, you'll have people walking by all the time.

The service is impeccable, from arrival to departure. To sit by the pool here is luxury enough, but to have the towels laid out for you, cold flannels brought, ice-water continually topped up, frozen pineapple pieces on sticks brought to you, etc...well-pampered!

The food in the restaurant is very good, though the atmosphere is a little bland. It's good value for where it is, but I really suggest you wander the short walk to other places too. There are a few within very easy walking distance, with the beach cafes nice to sit in, but the better food by the road (try Krua Kritsana, also reviewed by me!).

We tended to do activities away from the hotel, so did diving with Palm Beach Divers (2 minute walk along the beach to the north from the Layana) which was excellent and is a 5* PADI centre anyway.

Visit the Layana if you're fortunate enough to have the opportunity. You're highly unlikely to regret it!

We have just returned from 10 blissful nights at the layana. It deserves the award and comments that have been made about the service, there is very little that could be done to improve the experience of staying at this hotel.
The rooms are beautiful - we had a beach house and were really glad we had upgraded. There is plenty of storage space and a big bathroom plus an outdoor shower.
The location is perfect - on a stunning beach and within walking distance to other bars and restaurants.
Someone is always there to bring you water (free of charge) and iced towels, even on the beach!
As other people have mentioned, the management here is excellent. Stephan was always around to speak to and Karin never seems to sleep - he is always there and wanting to try to help to make things perfect.
The restaurant is very good and has a good mix of European and Thai food at reasonable prices. The breakfast was very good and again had a good mix from dim sum to continental.

Take advantage of happy hour - the cocktails are great and only around 120 baht between 17.30 and 19.30 - defiantly have the coco loco served in a small coconut :) and watch the sun go down
We used the spa for massages and facial and everything was fabulous - good offer of 30percent off between 10 and 3, and also 2 for 1 on a Friday but you have to book.

We went to a number of bars and restaurants outside the resort as well which we have written reviews for if you want to look.
We were sad to leave the layana and will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: If you can stretch to the beach house is is worth it to be right on the beach

My wife and I have been to Thailand for several times, Layana is absolutely the best ever. Service is also in the highest standard during the stay, both food and the beach is great. Very single staff in the hotel is extremely helpful.

Room Tip: must try the SPA in Layana, value of money and make you very relaxed and comfortable

Booked the Layana for my husbands 40h Birthday we wanted soimewhere different but special. It certainly was special, it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were brilliant every wish was their command. The setting is perfect, the food fabulous. The room was faultles we used the spa and had treatments nearly everyday. I could write forever but the review would become boring so I will sum it up this hotel is absolutelty faultless.

From the minute we stepped off the plane in Krabi we were in for a treat. Picked up by aircon minivan and then taken to the pier and collected by private speed boat. You have to go this option, imagine this.... pulling up on the beach to a personal greeting party (including the GM!),pristine beach, white sand, turquoise water, you will feel like a million dollars. We stayed in a garden room which was beautiful, pool stunning and the staff were very friendly. On the first night we were treated to a complimentary wine and canapes night. Was a great environment to meet the other guests. Incredible resort within walking distance to other eateries if you want to try something else. Nice place for couples to relax. Recommend the four islands tour run through the resort. Other tour companies do it cheaper than the resort but their boats are packed and we got such brilliant service on the resorts boat, delicious lunch with wine/beer. So pay the bit extra and get treated like a Rock Star you won't be disappointed.

I fear it is becoming something of a cliche because everyone says: 'it's all been said, what can I add' and they are absolutely right. I think it is not just a hotel or spa but a total experience which starts at Krabi airport where one is greeted by a member of Layana staff and guided through the transfer process. It also ends with the same gentleman helping you to check in and smooth the way with airport staff as if one was he most important VIP they had ever encountered. The accommodation and grounds are faultless and the food excellent, although for those a little more adventurous there are plenty of alternative restaurants within a stroll along the beach or a cheap taxi ride away. Stephane and his new colleague, Kanin, head a remarkably happy, effective, and friendly team who have pampering down to a fine art. Thank you Layana for such a wonderful 8 days, I wish it had been longer, please don't change your recipe.
