A little piece of paradise

Review of Haadson Resort
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 7, 2017via mobile
We stayed here for 5 nights and 4 days. It was lovely. Great beach, nice bar/ restaurant and great Thai staff as always. Snorkelling off the edge of the restaurant was a highlight was the beach. For a little down time on Koh Phangan, this is the place.

You see the pictures on booking.com......you find the most beautiful setting then you come across the hotel with the least service anywhere !!!! The place is like a ghost town!! No one to be seen most of the time.....few staff and no other guests.
The room overlooks the sea.....stunning views....however a huge room furnished with just a bed....unusable sun loungers on balcony.....and luckily two fairly comfy chairs too!
The bathroom has seen better days....rusty spots where things have fallen off the wall....trickling water ,and a shower head that aims out of the cubicle spraying everywhere except your body!! Next to no toiletries and only half a toilet roll.(don't have upset tummy!! )
Rooms only cleaned every other day.....unusual for this part of the world.
There is no atmosphere at all.....the whole place is quite eerie and gives you an uncomfortable feeling.
The restaurant which has the most amazing setting serves really poor food.....the only time on our whole trip that I was ill ,,,?? All the staff are lolling about..pretty disinterested in their clients. At lunch time it is quite bussy with people off the beach ....but totally deserted in the evenings which leaves you to believe that all guests if any are sourcing their food elsewhere!!
To top it all today we leave....hurrah.....it is tipping down with rain....but reception do not even have an umbrella to offer!!
This hotel has great potential....but lack management ......we would never recommend it .

Room tip: Don't come

I went and stayed at Haad Son Resort.
My room was way up in the resort.
One of the small Bungalows.
Quiet and Clean for the money.
Steep stairs to go up...Must be hard if you had one too many drink :)
Spend most of my bungalow time on the small terrasse.
Just a nice retreat to rest.

This is a beautiful property with scenic view along the coast where the resort is situated, gives a much needed break to the party scene @ koh phan gan, but the service is below average and only obligatory.

Pros:
Great Views
Good Restaurant
Resort is beautiful
Beach just off the resort
Transfers to full moon party provided.

Cons:
Almost no service provided!
No intercoms, if light goes out in the middle of the night you may have to walk all the way to the reception where a guy will be sleeping inside a locked door! I mean comeon!
Towels changed every two days! You are a beach resort guys!!
Breakfast was cold

OK so been travelling around various Thailand hotels and bungalows and often disappointed. Came across this place because I visited the adjoining Secret Beach which is beautiful. Went over to their restaurant called Koh Raham which turned out to be a piece of paradise surrounded by the best views, good food and sea on all sides. The one part of the restaurant actually has steps down to the ocean to swim with schools of fish with the restaurant supplied goggles! The other parts of the restaurant are on Sea sand with gardens and swings and hammocks from most trees! At night the place is lit with beautiful lighting to make it super romantic.

I was so impressed by the restaurant, it's prices and the friendly staff that I enquired at the hotel and found the rates to be better than the very average hotel I was due to check out of the next day. Some helpful assistance and I was booked for the next three days in a sea view room ground floor. The room was clean and modern with balcony and I was happier than I had been at the previous few hotels - often at greater cost. There are also full sea villas that coat a bit more that looked awesome. We spent our days here using the pool, snorkeling among incredible fish, eating and drinking at the restaurant for hours while swimming directly into the sea. Beautiful late night walks and swims made this one of the most memorable stays anywhere.

The hotel is very pretty, although I do not recommend getting a garden view bungalow, these are shabby. The sea view rooms are much nicer and the bed is very comfortable, only the bathrooms stay questionable and seem filthy, but this is the case almost everywhere on the island. The beach is tiny and not suitable for swimming, however some amazing beaches are nearby (had chaloklum and had salad). The food wasn't tasty and pricey and breakfast was a joke- two slices of toast, one piece of butter,
One egg and a tiny salad plus juice. Do not
Recommend eating here, although the view from the restaurant is marvelous. The shakes and lassis and cocktails contrary to the food were well
Worth the money. Would stay there again not only with a scooter to be able to visit
A nice beach and better restaurants quickly
