“Great trip to Salad Beach, Decent stay at Salad Hut”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2011

We stayed at one of the rooms away from the pool area. The room was nothing fancy, but clean. The bed was comfortable. The décor of the room is traditional Thai with dark wood panels and furniture. The bathroom was also very basic. The pool is small, and it can get loud if there are a lot of young kids running around. The breakfasts were delicious. We went to Cookie's Salad Beach at the end of beach half way up the hill has wonderful Thai food. The owner of the place is very nice and helpful. She helped us arrange a trip to the Marine Park even though we were told the daytrip to the Marine Park was not running during the low season.

This was my 5th trip to Koh Phangan and I decided to stay at Salad Hut after a recommendation from a friend.

We stayed in the best bungalow (No. 10) which has amazing views of the sea and some privacy from your fellow guests compared to the other bungalows.

However I found for the price we paid BHT 3000 per night was rather high.

The bathrooms is similar to the countless backpacker accommodation , with the shower wall placed so close to the toilet it is impossible to use the toilet properly unless you are under 5ft.

Linen was of poor quality and old (blood stains and torn) and the walls needed a paint.

Pool is very average but not acceptable when one is paying 3000 BHT per night.

I would not recommend this hotel to couples as you may be faced to 7-10 kids running around at breakfast. Breakfast also had a lack of choice and very small.

The staff are friendly to a point but I was told that if I wanted a 2nd refill of my coffee at breakfast I would need to pay! I also was accused of breaking a mountain bike that they provide free of charge. After explaining to the staff that it was the screws that had become loose because of no/poor maintenance on the bike, I was informed that I should check all the bike screws before taking the bike out! I persisted and was grudgingly given my passport back.

They also charge for internet which I find unacceptable when backpacker accommodation at 20% of the price will provide this free of charge.

There are far better places to stay in the area.

We stayed in a family cottage just next to the restaurant and had the pool within 20 mtrs. Room was though nothing extraordinary and beds were a bit hard. Nice with a hammock on the veranda. Food was good and the beach is very good for children. A place for relaxation as ther is not much to do but massage or swimming.

It wasn't exactly cheap, but the family beachfront bungalow that we stayed in was really really nice. Superb location right on the beach with HUGE decking/balcony. Nice little touches like a handy tap to wash sand off your feet just outside. Very comfortable and, with two bedrooms, very spacious for a family. The restaurant was right next door (but not noisy) and had a great variety and standard of food. Kids enjoyed the pool table! Lovely pool for when the tide was a bit far out. Salad beach is great - several restaurants to choose from but not too busy. The lady at the stall right outside our bungalow sold superb fruit shakes too! Cheap and quick laundry just around the corner, massage next door - everything is just on your doorstep! Not much in the way of snorkelling though . . .

Room Tip: Beachfront family bungalows are expensive but really luxurious and RIGHT on the beach!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Salad Hut for 5 nights in Oct and absolutely loved it. Accommodation is simple but perfect - very close to the beach and gorgeous wooden floors & decking. The food at Salad Hut was out of this world. The banana pancakes for breakfast were to die for. We tried many things on the menu and everything was delicious and top quality. The baguettes for lunch deserve a mention - only the freshest ingredients tomato, lettuce, onion, cucumber & tuna/cheese. The staff were great too and I loved the rule of no shoes - accelerated the relaxation!
Don't hesitate to book a stay here if you fancy laid back, relaxing destination with great food.

We have been to these bungalows 3 times now as a family of 4. It's amazing value for such a stunning beach front setting. The infinity pool looks straight onto the beach and the view is gorgeous. The price of the rooms includes breakfast which is great, offering a choice of about 4 styles of breakfast. I always go for the muesli and fresh fruit option: this also comes with 'real' coffee and a fresh fruit shake. We have found the food here the best in the resort, when we have tried elsewhere the food has never been as nice as Salad Hut. It's also a great place to visit with young children as it is so peaceful and they are really safe. The only tiny complaint is we found the beds quite hard but the stunning setting makes up for it.

Room Tip: There are a few new bungalows overlooking the sea which look a bit bigger and suitable for families.

Great bungalow, great pool, great restaurant, great beach and great personal. What could I say more? Salad Hut gave us (2 adults and a 2,5 yr old child) the true holiday feeling. The only bad thing about it is that the return to reality is so hard....
