The worst part of our stay here at wind beach resort is the ignorant rude staff, in particular the older man on the reception desk. As backpackers we wern't expecting 5* quality but this was a really terrible experience. I hands down recommend for everyone to go stay elsewhere. The only redeeming factor is its location but as there are plenty of places in the same area you shouldn't struggle to find somewhere else

We booked an air-conditioned room online, and came to find a room with only a fan, with no AC rooms available. Having paid in cash right before getting our room key, the girl at the front said we could get our money back if we wanted to get a room in another hotel. Finding a room for the same night wasn't easy, but we did, yet when we came back they refused to give us our money. The guy who was now at the front (probably hotel manager or owner) was extremely rude, and despite being told that we did not get the room we booked, and that we were promised, before booking another hotel room, that we could get a refund, he refused to deliver and resorted to yelling and blaming us.

After way too long, we got a partial refund (which was not worth the time spent arguing). The whole experience was very unpleasant, and I would definitely never go back there. While most of the staff seemed to be rather nice and helpful, it was that owner/manager who really made us not ever go near the place again.

We managed to 'endure' one night at the Wind Beach Resort a few days ago. We were greeted by a building site, some stray dogs and some trash as we walked past the bungalows (they look fine on the outside!). We checked into reception, they grunted and said the room was not ready so we ordered some fries. An hour later we got our room. The 'room' was like a prison cell - three 'inmate' style beds lined up in a row with nappy cloth-like blankets. A clacking old fan hanging on the wall. Can it get worse? Yes, if you count the family of ants crawling up the wall and the cold water we had from the shower! It's a complete dive, an almost nightmare scenario and if you meet the Scandinavian woman who works at the beach front bar, avoid eye contact, she clearly hates humanity! Happy to be in Koh Samui at the Hutcha Resort, it's a dream.

Booked here through agoda for one night, which was one too many, sadly. The room had seen better days, with leaky taps, stains on the ceiling and no hot water. The beach front cafe is really nice but when we were there the people working were distinctly frosty and unfriendly for some reason. Having said that, this place is right in the middle of Sairee Beach, with everything in walking distance. If you are looking for something basic and central just to crash, it might be ideal, but make sure you look at the room before booking in!

look im starting to feel like a bit of a tripadvisor troll. left a few average reviews so i tried to think of a place i enjoyed so i could give a good one...
when i first arrived in koh tao i was stayin at o-chai bungalows a little further up the beach. after a couple of days of eating at wind beach i realised the rooms here were the same price as o-chais but a bit better. o-chais bungalows are pretty crap. anyway the place was full, but i managed to get a fan room for a few nights.
i really liked it here anyway. its a nice location. has a nice area to sit on the beach and have a feed or a drink. the gardens are well kept and beautiful. the service in the restaurant wasn't great but the 2 burmese that i saw most days were pretty good. its open early for breakfasts. i even found the reception staff to be quite pleasant as well. this was back around april/may that i stayed so im not sure whats with all the crap service reviews. perhaps it has changed hands in those few months or something. not sure.
now for the negatives. the biggest one is how hot the rooms are. sure its a fan room but these are unbeleivable. i started feeling a lil crazy after 5 or so days of being constantly hot and drenched in sweat. when i mentioned this to a local he said it was because of what the roof is made out of. im not sure, i just know it was hot 24/7. oh yea and choppers a bar nearby (good food by the way) has live music that might keep you up late on a mon/wed/fri night.
anyway the room was cheap though, i think 500 per night or something. cant complain with that. they also offered a cleaning service whenever i wanted.
one thing that annoyed me about this place was the pumping beats they have in the restaurant. looks like there trying to be kool buy having a dj pump but i couldn't eat there coz it was just too full on. i did eat a few breakfasts here though.
dogs in the kitchen annoyed me as well but thats thailand i guess. no hygeine regulations here thats for sure.
all in all i would and have recommended it to my friends. but yea i hope it's still as nice as when i was there and it hasn't changed hands and gone downhill
