The Indochine market is a great place to shop and we bought many things including a carpet at an extremely cheap price for our home. It is entirely different to the Tha Sadet night market which runs along the promenade by the Mekong river. Here many of the goods for sale are counterfeit and include handbags, watches, T shirts etc. There are street musicians, beggars, blind singers and other strange goings on. It's good to find a bar and just sit and watch all the locals and somewhat baffled tourists that pass by. Get there early if you want to see the spectacular sun setting.

If you area 1st timer here, then okay.
But really this market is only for tourists, it does not represent a true market. It's full of Chinese made items, designed to last 3 days!
A plus is you can leave and sit on the Riverside where there some comfortable relaxing places to eat and drink.

Be warned there are often too many tourists and can be hot!

Last time we been there we ate in a restaurant inside Mekong river, yes inside not near, good Isan food and not overpriced.

After this we took a walk and looked arround, some shopping and traditional artcraft.

It´s an original place to go.

Often, many out of town travelers may get a little confused with the term. Thasadet Market is known by locals as "pedestrian open night market" which is open on the river walk on Saturday only or we may classified it as night bazaar. The other one is the gift market (covered) on the road side is known as "Talad Indochine) which opens everyday with gift shops, food and drinks. the river boardwalk or as know in Thai language is "ตลาดคนเดิน). If you are in the city of Nong Khai on Saturday, the river walk is quite popular area with many activities till late at night. Get there and enjoy yourself with food, drinks, and some other entertainment. It is located at the tourist attraction Thasadet Pier.

I got there around 3 on a Saturday thinking this would be prime time but no stands were up yet so I sat in one of the many restaurants along the strip and let some time pass by, people started setting up their stands around 5. Didn't stay long but seems to be a place to do some good shopping and hang out for a few hours.
