Old monastery carved inside the mountain at the beginning of the Qadish valley nice walk. I recommend to start with it before you go into the valley, because the fascinating walk might not give you time on your way back.

Beautiful and picturesque, this museum/monastery has some nice exhibits (only some displays have English explanations), a small church and excellent views. You can drive here and park nearby to begin walking down the valley - where more amazing sites await.

Though rather busy, the location, and the historic artefacts and information, add to the beauty and holiness of this no-longer-used monastery. Well worth the walk, or drive, down the mountain; the sign-posted Way of the Cross is a good diversion off the road for walkers to Deir Mar Elisha.
