Went there early this month with another 5 friends. Our boat had to brave very choppy waters and rough high waves to get to the island.
The island is peaceful and is not really developed. A resort staff told us that it has to remain that way as tourists have remarked that one of the reasons that they go to Perhentian Kecil is because it’s nature is still unspoilt (monitor lizards can be seen quite frequently in bushy areas). Trekking can be done on the island. A famous trekking place would be to the no longer used electricity generating windmills and the still used electricity generating solar panels.
Snorkelling can be done too (packages start from as low as RM50).

Great view of perhentian from the top. It will be tiring if you are not fit to hike up but it will be worth the sweat!

The place is located at a vantage point and fenced off. Nevertheless the view from the platform beside it is breathtaking and you can have a nice overlook on both side of the island. It is not well maintained though so take an extra caution

We hiked up from Long beach in our flip flops. The hike up is not difficult and took us about 20minutes to get up the windmill. There is a viewpoint at the top which you need walk around the windmill to get to. Spectacular views from here!

We were also adventurous enough to go down the stairs from the top all the way to the sea below. Waters here are super clear, calm and secluded. At the abandon jetty, you can jump off for a swim which my buddy did together we three other people. Be warn though, swim at your own risk here as no help will be nearby. Do not miss this place if you are up for a little adventure.
