Fantastic Little place outside our big fancy resort "the Taaras". Never had so good meals for a very very small price !!! Me and my husbond had 3 meals everytime to split between us and 2 cola. For the unbelievable price of 36 RM. . They were so very kind a family, and we went for one of the husbands boat trip around the island to se turtles and snorkeling what a day !!!! They also had this very sweet daughter " Mimi" , she showed us pictures of snorkeling with very big turtles while they gave them small fish. That's in the high season from april or may.You just have to visit Aima's grill. Our best moments in Redang island !!

There was no crab, no fish fillet, so the 3 times we went we had previously, not freshly, caught fish done in a variety of sauces, the ginger gravy being by far the best. Meals are priced by 100g of fish so you need to order 200g to get a whole small fish. Staff may not remind you to order rice, which is not an automatic accompaniment. Other than that, a nice spot. Sit under a fan to avoid smokers.

We were staying at the Taaras resort and were wanting some more authentic Malay cuisine. Given the rating this restaurant received and its proximity to the hotel we gave it a try.

The service was excellent. Friendly and efficient. However the food was only average, and too westernised. The Kankung Belachan had little to no Belachan (shrimp paste) and the fish while fresh was in a sauce that tasted like it had come out of a jar. You are better to go a little further up the same road to a restaurant the locals call KFC. The food is far better and the cost is slightly more than half. The squid in tamarind is excellent, as was the fish and Padang fried rice. The hotel will bus you there for MR20, and walking would take about 20-30mins.
