You can walk during the day time around the Kandy lake and enjoy the shade under beautiful treas, look at flowers and observe the birds swimming on the lake. Best you start next to the Tooth Temple Dalada Maligawa. After six o clock it's not recommanded, as it will be dark and only very few peoples walking there. If it's raining it is a nice atmospere as well, but make sure to carry an umbrella and weare close shoes, as you may walk some parts a bit in the mud. If you are a woman, walk with an open umbrella even at sunshine, weare a long skirt and blouse the mens will not borther you, as they think you are mabe a local : ) If the distance seems to be too far, you can make half of it by a treeweeler.

What a scream visiting a temple where Budha's toe is kept. Didn't feel like hanging in the line up as the schools inundated the site. (it was more important for school kids to see the toe than I)! Everything else was supremeeeee! The lake you are looking at is man made for the king who merely wanted a lake in front of his palace. Makes sense! Every King should have a lake n'es pas. The evening entertainment was fun i.e. watching fire walkers on top of a bed of coals <~~ no way were these LED's; the dancers were exciting with some suave music. Food always tantalizing and surprizing! Ask someone about the elephants they have and how the males are selected? If you want a non-disney real world experience this is it! If you don't go then you have holes in your bucket.

Despite the ducks; the monitor lizards and the monkeys we saw we also saw lots of dead fish and an abundance of plastic and waste!
