Kandy is a difficult town to review re accommodations...stay downtown for convenience, and it is crowded and noisy. Stay in the surrounding hills, and you will need a tuk-tuk to go anywhere (especially back up)

36 B&B is situated in the hills, about a 25 min walk down to the town.

Plus notes:
- view is very nice from 2 of the 3 rooms, overlooking Kandy Lake and the hills beyond
- rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable
- linens and towels clean
- wifi is strong and consistent
- site minder fixes a nice breakfast, and offers tea on request other times
- gentlemen who minds the place, Mohinda, is very nice and will work hard to make your stay enjoyable
- they will do laundery on site
Minus notes
- B&B only serves breakfast, so be prepared to step out for any other meals...tuk-tuk about 200 LKR each way
- Some areas of rooms needs a little TLC
- B&B takes cash only at the moment...Booking.com, at the time of writing, indicated they accept Visa/Mastercard...check first to avoid a surprise
- common areas not A/C...they can get quite warm, and if you open the doors at night, the mosquitos get in

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view

His bed and breakfast is situated up a hill from the Kandy main city. Probably wouldn't walk up it personally, but a Tuk Tuk ride up will only set you back 200rs (probably could do it for 150, but finding a Tuk Tuk driver that knows where it is was a bonus so we'd pay more and then call them if we needed to get picked up etc).

Room was comfortable and clean and the staff were absolutely lovely. The view was really nice and it was reasonably priced.
The breakfast was good, though if you stay there for a few nights like we did it gets repetitive very fast.

This B&B is on the hill opposite the Tooth Temple, giving amazing views of the city and the lake. Two of the rooms have balconies with views, but even if you don't have one of those there's a balcony off the living room which is great for sitting and watching the sunrise or having an evening meal. The rooms are large, well furnished and clean with a fan, A/C, hot water and Wifi. A tuk-tuk ride or walk gets you down to the lake so the location is great! A western breakfast was included and other meals are easily found in town. Laundry services are also available on request. The host was fantastic and considerate in recommending places to eat and arranging transport for day trips and even to our next location.

This was a real find. A short hop in a tuc tuc to the centre of Kandy. Clean and comfortable with fantastic views of the lake Nice helpful staff with fresh eggs for breakfast. They sorted out reasonable transport for us where we wanted to go. Quite close to Sharon Hotel which did great buffet dinners.

Chose this B+B as it was cheap but well reviewed. We were not disappointed.
The rooms are clean and comfortable with A/c and en suite. The photos don't really do it justice - everything clean and new. We had a small balcony too. The view over Kandy from the living room and bedroom were beautiful.
The hosts were lovely, and made an excellent breakfast.
We didn't mind the walk to town, and tuk tuks are so cheap back that we didn't feel there was any compromise on location.
