We stayed for 2 nights on a 11 day trip in Panama. This was the most expensive place we stayed at, and I accordingly had high expectations. I was especially excited to have a house sitting on the water. The cabins are pretty huge, and the owners are super nice.
But - there was a TON of termite dust. They tried to clean it every day, but you'd walk in an hour later and it was back. You woke up in the morning and it was all over the sheets (we made our own canopy the 2nd night - note to owners, maybe you guys should have canopy beds). It was on the kitchen table and counters, in the bathroom, literally everywhere. Wings occasionally as well. For $120 a night (almost double what we paid for a Hyatt in Panama City), that's just not acceptable. And moreover, you should really warn your guests beforehand. Given this is a known problem, it should not come as a surprise to guests, and it made what could have been a lovely experience really feel unclean.
The other disappointment was the water itself - the owners fault (more a result of local culture), but I was hoping for nice water to swim in - instead it's very shallow and has tons of garbage floating around.
