“A truly special place hosted by people who love what they do.”

We were transiting to Kerala from Kathmandu, and were searching for a place to rest our head during our overnight layover… How fortunate we were to discover the warm and welcoming Mala Bindra B&B! We are still struck by the openness and hospitality we experienced during our all too brief stay, as we typically associate this level of personal interaction / being looked after with 5-star hotels (if we’re lucky! :). It is clear that the Bindras thoroughly enjoy meeting global travelers, and sharing their love / knowledge of India with all who come through the door. We only wish we had more time to explore some of the secret, special corners they mentioned to us.

Since we have been to Delhi on several occasions, and thought we might be exhausted from our preceding Nepali adventure, we opted to dine in. Prior to our visit, I exchanged emails with Mala, who asked us for any preferred menu options. Being huge fans of masala dosas & fish curries, we thought these would be wonderful selections. Little did we know, Mala learned how to make the perfect dosa just for our visit (this is no easy task)! WOW, we just couldn’t believe she would go to so much trouble! (Dosas are not indigenous to this part of India--) And, we had read about her legendary chocolate cakes, which she also made especially for our visit (and, unbeknownst to her, I was going to be a birthday girl in the following week, so she found a candle and I was properly serenaded :). Again, we were so incredibly touched by these generous and kind gestures.

As for the room, it was spacious and comfy… and very frosty (fabulous A/C, as Delhi was hot hot hot!). The room was also spotless, as was the bathroom, which gave a very hot shower. There is also WIFI/a computer on offer. Breakfast the next morning featured hot and cold options as you like, including yummy breads with delicious locally made jams. Oh, and the Bindra’s home is just a short ride from the airport (10-12’ with no traffic, door to door).

All in all we feel so fortunate to have discovered this gem of an accommodation, and we very much look forward to a future stay in such a special place. Thank you again, 1000 dhanyabads, Mala & Gurpreet! We look forward to seeing you again one day.

Room Tip: Any room is a perfect one.

The last 2 nights of my three week trip to India were spent at Malas B&B. This was the perfect way to end my stay in Delhi. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Excellent A/C, and hot shower.
Please if you can try dinner here. The food was really, really delicious.........Both Mala and her husband are friendly, very helpful..........and very accomadating. Their B&B has 2 rooms. I found my last day so relaxing and the living room so inviting that I forgot while leaving my book, which I had nearly finished. Very convenient location especially to the airport 10-15 minutes. Thank you fo you hospitality. I very much enjoyed the dnner converstion as well with guests from France. Great suggestion to visit the Deer Park and the Haus.....something or another artists village

This bed and breakfast is a fabulous way to begin a trip to India. My husband and I have previously always opted for hotels in our foreign travels. However, knowing how many of our friends have felt distant from the Indian people while staying in luxury Indian hotels, we intuitively felt like the smart place to begin our travels in Northern India would be this B&B. We were so glad about this decision. Mala and Gurdreep, as so well described in the Trip Advisor reviews, are exceptional people and attentive hosts. This is not a B&B in the American tradition, where you get a place to stay and a good breakfast but quite likely no genuine contact with the hosts. Here, you not only get a sumptuous breakfast (Mala is an accomplished baker) and the option of a home cooked dinner but, in addition, Mala and Gurdreep take a personal interest in orienting you to New Delhi and Old Delhi. We immensely enjoyed our wide-ranging conversations that offered us a unique perspective on India. They also helped arrange for drivers for our daily tours, made excellent shopping recommendations, endorsed our selection of a contemporary restaurant in Friends Colony, and introduced us to Mala's brother who runs a local art gallery. Their apartment is very comfortable, located in the diplomatic sector close to the airport, and furnished with beautiful Indian antiques and art. If you need more details and a journalistic endorsement, check out the New York times article on New Delhi bed and breakfasts which features Mala and Gurdreep complete with photographs. We feel so very fortunate to have spent six days in their home (three on the way into India and three on the way out).

Without wishing to repeat all the other fabulous reports, all true may we add. This is as the title says an EXCEPTIONAL homestay. We stayed at various other homestays during our trip and this was without doubt a cut above the rest, even down to the smallest detail:

We had hot water bottles waiting in our bed, due to the expectionally cold February weather! Gupreet organised our itinerary, phone, sim card and recommended a very fine restaurant for lunch. Mala took charge of the wonderful food and cakes, she helped us when our credit card was lost at the airport. We also left behind our teddy bears (which were posted first class and recorded delivery back to the uk, THANK YOU MALA.) Nothing is too much trouble. Also they sat and ate meals with us, (which did not happen in other homestays) which made us feel part of the family. We are generally not that social, but found it very easy to talk to Mala and Gupreet, and their daughter who was also delightful company. All in all 5 stars all the way for this homestay and we are already planning our trip for next year and will definitely be staying here again if we come back to Delhi.

during our trip though India we made so many good experiences with home stays and Mala's place is just another great place to stay!
we came by plane and were happy that the cap ride only took 10 minutes. at Mala's we felt at home from the first minute. the rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable - we had our best sleep there! also the fresh breakfast is yummy!

this is the right place, if you need accommodation close to the airport otherwise you have to keep in mind that you will need a taxi for every small trip...

Being that it was first time in India and I was traveling alone, I needed to get oriented, adjusted to the new culture, and rested after the journey from Canada. Mala and her family were so wonderful; They were incredibly helpful, informative, and hospitable. Mala went above and beyond in terms of making sure my stay was the best it could be. I was treated like family, which was very comforting. Staying with Mala was a great way to start my trip, especially because the next two months would consist of me staying in budget rooms and guest houses.
I would highly recommend

OK, so you are thinking that might be glowing praise, but our stay was worth the title. The room was clean, location was ok. The main thing however that really really enthused us was however Mala and Gurpreet's attitude towards us. Dehli was a bit intimidating for two kiwi's and having friendly hosts really made a difference. I forgot to mention the food which was great (and not oily). Their advice was excellent.

Overall, highly recommended as it also gave us a good indication of family life in Delhi.
