Central location, walking access to the seats of power. Helpful staff. Food is good. Age factor of the property is to be reversed by rebuilding it. Good coffee shop, chef is good. is average. Overall good.

I booked this hotel through a travel portal for 3 nights. The check-In was smooth the rooms were spacious and large it had the old world charm to it however the interiors were decrepit. The wifi was very slow and what was even more frustrating was that each time we stepped out and stepped in we had to key in the password. The hotel did not have a queen size bed for a couple but only single beds which were adjoined which was very surprising. Each time we would order for room service the staff would expect a tip it started right from the time the bell boys unloaded our luggage and transported it to the room. But otherwise the staff were very cordial and helpful. The very first day there was a AC leakage which on complain was promptly attended but it again started to leak we were shifted to another room. The AC vents were in a totally opposite directions and each time we had to increase and decrease the AC temperature.

The breakfast was average to good. The food variety was ok. Again the ambience in the restaurant was very old and dull. It definitely needs an overhaul. We dined one night at Gulnar and the food was delicious. There was a Ghazal night and we enjoyed it tremendously. A special mention to the manager at the restaurant. Very polite, courteous and although there were only 2 tables to attend he was very obliging.

The location of this hotel was supreme. Heart of New Delhi – Connaught Place. Janpath Metro station was a stone throw away distance and the Rajiv Chowk metro station was barely a Kilometer or two away. Markets, shopping, restaurants, Palika Bazaar were all in the vicinity.

This hotel needs an overhaul with it nothing can stop it from becoming a topnotch considering the amazing location it is in. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. However it is surprisingly listed in as a 4 star category which is a bit of an injustice to the other 4 star listed hotels.

Booked for a 4 night stay with a family group of 7 people. Location is unbeatable - next to Connaught Place and India Gate. It must be one of the older hotel buildings because the rooms were very large as were the bathrooms. You get a sense of ageing infrastructure but it did not affect our stay in the least. A capable restaurant. Satisactory breakfast buffet and friendly, obliging staff. Didnt use it, but there is a Metro entrance (Janpath) about 20m from the hotel. Unbeatable value.

Room tip: Get the upper 4,5th floor rooms facing Janpath road for a better view.

This 3 star hotel is owned by the Government. So you know what to expect. Despite this I was shocked at the dysfunctional state of affairs - everything seemed worn out and dilapidated. Thankfully the spacious room was fairly comfortable, although I have a sneaking suspicion that it was one of the better rooms. The plumbing did not work and the breakfast was sub par - a roadside dhaba could have done better! I felt sorry for the staff who were trying their best to put a good face on things! Only reason to stay here was the competitive rate on offer and the superbrilliant location. Since you could do better with an OYO room, best to stay away.

Room tip: Check the plumbing (esp the shower) when you check in!

It must have been one of the glitziest, shiniest hotels on the strip in a bygone era. It has an old world feel to it with lots of wood panelling & large, spacious rooms where today, glass and chrome are the standard. It's great value for money as it's reasonably priced for the Connaught Place area and is close to restaurants, shopping as well as sight-seeing landmarks - Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate etc.

But it looks and feels tired. The wi-fi is free but works like a dial-up. The only time it picks up speed is when you complain to the reception & then goes back to its old ways in less than 15 mins. Of the two days I stayed there, one day was a total washout as far as connectivity is concerned. The fixtures in the bathroom needed a complete overhaul, it simply did not match the comfort of the room itself. The staff are helpful and try hard to fix things (not always successfully) but that is probably the best they can do. It's upto the management - ITDC - to really figure this out i.e. if they want to offer their guests a better experience.
