Hve been here several times. Coming from Sweden you have to be careful about where to eat when in India. This is a great place. Try the South Indian Thali, you will not find anything better in New Delhi. Want to go back again....and again, Priceworthy too.

06 April, 2016.
The Wife was coming back from enjoying a dance recital with her
parents, my mummy, and Junior, when she hit upon a grand idea: of
dining out. I was at my home, and Papa at may parents', when The
Wife just called to say...that we were to assemble in the
Karnataka restaurant in Yusuf Sarai, in half-an-hour. We have
patronised this joint quite often. One reason for it was the fact
that they were the only Udupi-style joint close-by, which served
the nice tomato chutney. Most other joints at that time used to
serve the coconut chutney, with sambhar, but this restaurant had
the added benefit of the slightly sweet tomato chutney, which we
all enjoyed. The restaurant had started off with a
small room on the ground floor, which soon had some seating
upstairs, as well. It perhaps used to have a second floor as
well, though I cannot trust my memories that much. The
construction of the Delhi Metro saw the restaurant re-locating in
an adjacent building, on its first floor. The decor is now quite
classy, as one steps inside the narrow and somewhat rather
ordinary entrance. The stairs leading to the restaurant have many
photographs and sculptures on the wall, associated with the arts
of the state. This simply sets the mood for a good meal.
The Wife and Papa went in for a Coke each, whereas Mummy and I
chose to have a Fresh Lime Soda (sweet). The Wife chose to have
some lemon rice (chitranna), which was accompanied with a
somewhat greasy curry, which she avoided. The sambhar was also a
tad sweet for our liking, though not overtly sweet. Junior chose
a rice idli plate, where it took all of Papa's charms to get him
to eat something. The Wife's parents went in for a rava masala
dosa each. Mummy chose a mixed uthapam, whereas Papa went in for
a rather exotic mushroom capsicum uthapam. It was a bit heavy on
the salt, but otherwise nice. I saw the Andhra-style Pesarat dosa
in the menu, and was prompt in ordering this delicacy, which has
moong pluses (with the skins) blended with the dosa batter, with
the inside lined with chopped onions and some semolina (durum
wheat) rava filling. A bit greasy, but very high on the taste
quotient! The Wife shared a plate of ice cream with Junior, who
did not mind this part of the meal. The Wife, Papa and I washed
it down with some excellent strong South Indian filter coffee,
which provided a great conclusion to a nice family dinner. The
total cost came up to a reasonable Rs.1799 with taxes (Rs.1511 +
Rs.87.64 + Rs.200.13). The place is extremely neat and clean, and
the service, prompt, with a smile.
