I stayed 3 nights with Shivi and it was totally brilliant. The location is so lovely, the view from the balconies is outstanding. The whole place as very tranquil. The rooms are great, really clean and big, very good bathroom also. Meals were fantastic and you get Shivi for company which is excellent, I was there alone and he kept me thoroughly entertained. He sorted out all my transport for me and helped with all my queries. It was also my birthday when I was there and he put on a surprise extra nice dinner and a cake for me which was really sweet. It's no trouble at all to get into Shimla and it's a much nicer place to be than in the centre of town. Couldn't recommend Aapo Aap enough.

We stayed at Aapo Aap for 6 nights (each one a peaceful night's sleep). For 2250Rp we got breakfast and a huge apartment with bathroom, reception room, kitchenette and bedroom with a sizeable verandah. The rooms were spotlessly clean and thoughfully equipped with hairdryer, playing cards, tissues, tea and coffee facilities, 2ltrs bottled water, toiletries. The spacious accommodation has a lockable cupboard, plenty of power points and chairs and tables plus patio furniture for the verandah. The western style bathroom looks newly appointed with electric storage shower for guaranteed hot water. Rooms are cleaned meticulously on request. Apart from the rooms being spacious with fantastic valley views, our hosts were so thoughtful, helpful and generous. We have been offered lifts into town, a free mobile phone, a backpack, a celebration dinner for our anniversary, a torch, advice on travel and transportation and the use of their walking guidebook and book on Shimla. My husband was given a lift into town to get medical supplies too. We were greeted at the door by the owner of the stunning house Shamsher and his wife and son Shivi and shown around the place. You are welcome to use their private garden and a spacious lounge in the house, where they offer to serve you one of their 18 varieties of tea. The masala chai was lovely.
Breakfast was a feast and in true Indian style our hosts were determined for us to not go hungry - various varieties of parathas are freshly made (a new one brought out ever two minutes), there is also fruit, fruit juice, toast, locally produced jams and cornflakes - we drew the line at the eggs option as we couldn't possibly eat any more. Shivi was keen to offer other alternatives too. Shivi would provide explanations of the Indian fare available. We ate here for dinner on three occasions, again you are treated to more food than you can handle - traditional vegetarian dishes plus rice and chapatis and a different dessert every time - all for 200Rps per person. There is always someone from the family around at meal times to chat to you about your trip and about India. We also used the laundry service - 20Rp per item, good reliable and fast service. We also used Shivi's personal 3G internet dongle in our own laptop for free. The homestay is situated on a quiet road outside Shimla and is a 250/300Rp taxi ride from Shimla lift. There is a bus that departs outside the homestay to Shimla lift at 10am and 11am daily - 13Rps. The journey takes roughly 30 minutes. In addition to all of this, Shivi and his family bought us gifts for our anniversary. Highly recommended!!!

Stayed in Aapo Aap for 2 nights with 2 friends and it has been the best homestay that we have ever been. The room that we stayed has a balcony and from there we can view sunrise early in the morning. The breakfast and dinner are home-cooked food and they are excellent. For 3 nights (we even took the dinner on the last night before we left for Delhi), we had different Indian dishes and I personally liked the different desserts served on each night.

Shimla is a beautiful place and Shivi has made it a memorable trip for us.

Stayed here for 3 nights in March. The place is spotlessly clean and well mantained. I stayed with my wife and a very naughty 3 year old boy who enjoyed immensely.

We were out during the day BUT evenings and nights were spent here.

The room is a comfortable one with wooden laminated flooring as the weather is really cold for 8 months in a year and the wooden floor helps it keep warm. They have brilliant heaters and electric blankets that keep you snug. Hot showers and spacious bathrooms.

Also comes with a mini kitchen and seperate sitting area so you get a mini pad for the price of a room.

Breakfast is simple western / indian fare.

They will prepare a nice home cooked meal which we had one day and the other 2 days ended up bringing food from the mall which they served us hot when we asked for.

We had our own car so going to the mall was a 20 minute ride BUT if you dont have a car they will be happy to arrange for a taxi at a nominal price.

The place is super quiet and beautiful if one wants to spend some quality time. The views are also great. Absolutely recommended.

A wonderful peaceful homestay with fantastic views. Our accommodation was spotlessly clean with our own large bedroom, sitting room and kitchen. We were there at the beginning of Mrach and the evenings and nights were cold but there were heaters and electric blankets and wonderful hot showers.
Shivi and his family were delightful hosts and made us so welcome in their home. Nothing was too much trouble and Shivi sorted all our transport into Shimla and back. We ate with Shivi and the meals were always absolutely delicious and we learnt so much about the culture of India from Shivi over dinner and breakfast.
Aapo Aap is about 20 mins taxi ride from the centre of Shimla but it is worth it to have the wonderful views and peace.
