A group of 6 of us, with 2 children stayed at Aapo Aap on 06 Jun 12. It was one of the most memorable stays ever.

Aapo Aap is located in a very picturesque location, surrounded by beautiful scenery. It is a place where you can enjoy the warmth of a home and the comforts of a hotel. The hosts are very warm and welcoming people and the place is run like a tight ship.

The rooms are large, very spacious and very thoughtfully furnished. There is a large room where the hosts have provided books, travel guides and other reading material.

The food is homely and of excellent taste and quality. The service in the dining hall is prompt, attentive and would beat a restaurant's service.

The large terrace outside the rooms is a place where one can spend endless hours reading, listening to music or just watching the mountains.

Overall, it is a wonderful place where one could spend a few days in peace and great comfort.

Room Tip: Every room is excellent. If you plan to reach there close to lunch time, it would be better to have lunch prior to arrival or carry packed lunch since Aapo Aap does not serve lunch.

If you are not hung up on close proximity of activity centres like shopping malls, night life, restaurants, cinema halls and such other urban pleasures and what you have in mind is a with peaceful and tranquil holiday in your mind. This is the place to be in.

This place is located a little away from the urban ghetto that this quaint township of Shimla has now become. If you have your own transportation, it is an added bonus and you can make Aapo aap as the base for further forays into the still not so crowded destinations further up in the Himalayas.

The hospitality is superb. The rooms are excellent. Well thought out, furnished and appointed with care. You have to stay here to experience the value of the acomnodation on offer and compare it with the pricing to take a gulp of disbelief for the sheer value for money proposition that this property offers.

Room Tip: The hosts are more than willing to point you to the best available ones

Aapo Aap is a family home that has been converted to a B&Bull but it's an enormous place and doesn't feel like you're under the family's feet.

It's a little way out of town in a peaceful place with a meditation room available for guests to use. There are no nearby restaurants (it's a 25 minute taxi ride into town) but the dinner and breakfast are amazing. There are a variety of dishes and you eat your fill. You will be joined at meals by Shivi and/or his dad but they are both very interesting to talk to about life in India. This would not be so good if you wanted a romantic getaway.

The rooms are huge and comfortable. Our only complaint was that we heard a lot of noise from the family in the room next door watching tv. There is an adjoining door that let a lot of noise in. It would also help if the curtains in the bedroom were thicker to block more of the light that streams in over the balcony.

But these are quibbles. We would have no hesitation staying again with this very welcoming family.

We stayed in the Aapo Aap homestay for 5 nights at the beginning of a trip around India, and we didn't stay anywhere else that quite measured up to it. Shivi and the staff and family made us feel incredibly welcome and helped out with anything we needed. The room was superb; very clean, spacious and with an absolutely amazing view. As the Aapo Aap is a little way out of Shimla (but easy to reach by bus or cab), it is very peaceful. As well as an excellent breakfast you can take evening meals here for a very reasonable charge, and the food is fantastic. We strongly recommend anyone visiting Shimla to check out the Aapo Aap - you won't be disappointed!

Aapo Aap is a wonderful place to stay in Shimla. It is unlike any other hotel or B&B experience i have had anywhere. The other descriptions here about the location, the rooms, the meals - all completely in line with our experience. The real special touch with Aapo Aap is Shivi, his father, and the other staff. They do absolutely whatever they can to make you feel welcome, help get your trip organised and running smoothly. We stayed 4 fantastic nights, and by the time we left it felt like we were leaving family behind.
