I've been traveling for a while now, and this hostel is the one i wish i spent more time in. Very nice and helpful people, peaceful and calm place. The room was quite big, and the view from there is breathtaking ! I was hesitating to spend the night at Shimla but now i'm glad I did. Definitely recommend!

Me, My wife and kid stayed in Aapo Aap Home Stay for 15 nights. It was a big change for south Indians like us. On arrival day, just before entry gate, 2-3 friendly dogs welcomed us till inside the homestay and it was a unique experience for us. Shivi, Innkeeper showed us a room which was huge with nice 4 beds, bathroom, kitchen and the amazing hilly view from windows and outside balcony. Night time this place was super quiet as homestay location is away from the city...

Every day we used to watch monkeys passing by from balcony in morning and in the evening. Friendly dogs used to come once in a while to play with us. Shivi also arranged bonfire gathering, where we met other guests too. Food provided by homestay was very tasty and especially we liked unique beaten rice pudding and my kid liked puri and curry. We also cooked our own food as grocery and vegetable shops are very nearby and kitchen provided us in the room had a gas cooktop, fridge, RO Water filter and other basic utensils. CCTV fixed around the homestay and there are dogs to guard the house. We felt very secure to stay here. And yeah, On check-out day, early in the morning, same dogs came out to say bye to us :)

Tips: To reach Shimla city center, you can take a bus which starts near to homestay gate in morning. Or walk 1km to Panthaghati. There are plenty buses waiting for old bus stop. From old bus stop, all attractions are in walkable distance. If you want a cab, Just ask Shivi. He will arrange one for you...

Room Tip: If you want anything, just ask the innkeeper Shivi. He will try to fulfill all of your needs.

Shivi and his parents are excellent hosts, very kind and attentive. The view is breathtaking. The rooms are large & accomodating. The location is a bit away from downtown Shimla so you must take a bus from right outside the homestay or call for a taxi for 400inr. The distance from the downtown area was well worth it for me, as I was craving peace and quiet after staying in noisy city hotels for weeks. In the evenings they make a bonfire on the veranda, and the view of the stars is beautiful. Loved Shimla and loved Aapo Aap.

We are truly thankful for your kind words and for the privilege of having you as our guest. We have to say that while we have been blessed with an exceptionally large number of truly delightful guests, we were struck by what a wonderful and lovely spirt you have. If you return to Shimla, you know there will always be a place for you in our home.

Hospitably Yours,
Aapo Aap Family.

What a fantastic place to stay, couldn’t recommend it more! Immaculate rooms and bathroom. Shivi is the perfect host - he gave us a mobile to take out with us so we could contact him should we have any issues, he gave us a hot spot so we could use the internet in our rooms, let us use the kitchen, gave us tea on our arrival, lent us a guide book....etc. Although out of the town, the bus leaves from just outside for only 14 rupees each and we used Ola cabs too which was reasonable. There is also a takeaway service from a nearby restaurant that Shivi will call through and order for you and the food was exceptional so we did that in the evenings - sitting out on the balcony enjoying the view. When our friends arrived on our recommendation, he ensured that we were sharing the 4 bed dorm with them. There are food / veg shops in walking distance and filtered water is available for free. We were also able to do some laundry here too. The other member of staff (sorry I can’t remember his name!) was so so helpful and attentive! Thank you for such a homely, wonderful stay!
