I fail to understand where people are coming from this is an excellent hotel I stayed there for 2 weeks in January with my wife and son. Service was attentive and the staff 1st class. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a good hotel in the Mumbai Area

Room Tip: All very good

Very bad services. The worst customer service of ever. They just want your money...food really expensive and not good at all !!!! They jump on you as soon as you order something but you have to ask twice at least to have your change...

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Negative though it may have been, it helps to keep us on our toes and improve our overall service and guest experience. This year we are celebrating our Golden Anniversary and have been practicing our credo "Small enough to listen, Big enough to serve". I have communicated your feedback to our F&B in-charge and a corrective action plan has already been put in place. Once again thank you for your feedback.

This is our 50th year of operations, a feat that not even a handful of Hotels can boast about. We have been able to achieve this through our dedicated and continuous efforts to satisfy our guests. Over the years, we have catered to varied clientele from leisure guests to business travelers and even airline crews.

Thank you for your feedback.

We stayed here for couple of nights in Feb end '12. I had no problem whatsoever. The hotel is sea facing, has a beautiful terrace (sea facing) having restrau, bar, swimming pool right there only. The location is also not far from Bandra, and is very close to Andheri adn all, so nice time spending in the malls to for shopaholics. No issues with the complimentary breakfast and the cut-fruits they offer :D Rooms were of clean and 'okay' in size, not too much big, or small. What else. One thing, I read few people complaining they waited long time for check-in, I faced this problem too, waited around 20min, and then they took another 45min to make up another room. That's it. else no worries! Airport transfer is free i guess, but if you want to go to MumbaiCST, then CoolCab charges 600Rs., and best deal if you want to ride the black and yellow iconic Premier Padmini Taxis, it would cost you half of what CoolCabs charge :D. Allthebest! :)

Room Tip: Try getting rooms on or above second floor, because the terrace garden halts the sea view from first...

This hotel was picked by myself and my wife for a 15 night stay in Mumbai between 11/2/12 and 26/2/12 for its location and the promise of a 5 star service and facilities.
The room we were allocated was spacious but lacked decor for a supposedly Executive room at a price of over £150 per night.
This price included breakfast, airport transfers and a free bar service for one hour each night.
The food on offer for breakfast was adequate and the service provided was what was expected but the best service was during the free bar between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. As soon as your glass was empty, they would be asking if another was required.
The food in the restaurants was expensive for India standards especially when all the taxes are added to the final total. We ate in the Kabab Restaurant twice and found the food very spicy so it would have been good if we were given the opportunity to tell the chef how we wanted our food. We are used to spicy food but found what we had too much.
There are no other bars for buying drinks after the free one closes. All you could do was go to one of the restaurant areas.
If you wanted to sit outside at night, you had to put up with a wedding or some other celebration taking over most of the grounds. During our 15 night stay there were only 2 nights where nothing was going on.
Our room was meant to be a non smoking room, but we could smell smoke in our bathroom whenever there was a smoker in the next room because they alternate their rooms smoking, non smoking etc. We did complain and someone came to our room to check but all they could do was spray some air freshener.
Be prepared for your room attendants to show more interest in you a couple of days before you check out as they are obviously after their tips.
We chatted to other guests prior to their departure and they said that they were having difficulty entering their rooms with their key cards a couple of days before their departure but there was always a room attendant there to offer their service no matter what time of day or night, (obviously to make their presence known) and this is exactly what happened to us.
We did enjoy our stay at this hotel but I would not class this hotel as a 5 star but more of a good 3 star charging 5 star prices.
This hotel, as far as I am concerned, is building their business around the many businessmen who only need to stay a few days and not anyone using it as a base for an extended holiday.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a sea or pool facing room. The others do not have a very good outlook

Stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of a tour and overall was a good experience. Complimentary airport pickup/drop was fine with no issues. We were allocated a large executive room upgraded from a standard room (non sea facing)....this was spacious and clean. The breakfast spread was very good with lots of choice and also the restaurant in the evening was good as were the staff… It’s not cheap to eat and drink here as you would imagine. The “happy hour” is very intimate as this is held in the business lounge which is very small and very popular. Location was lovely away from the bustle of Mumbai traffic overlooking Juhu Beach, where you could recline in a chair and watch the sunset with a cool drink. Note it will take approx one hour (two in rush hour) by car to the south of the city where all the attractions are due to terrible traffic. We knew this when booking and booked a full day city tour so it didn’t matter. Conversely it is only half hour or so from the airport which is handy.
Only real gripe is that beware they do have a lot of functions. Both nights we were there the place was mobbed in the evening first by a corporate event then a wedding and it felt like the hotel residents were “brushed” aside somewhat as the visitors took over the outside area and the lobby.
I visited the Novotel next door for a drink and was impressed as this is a much larger more modern hotel with more conducive amenities and also overlooking Juhu. In summary, this was one of the first “5 Star” (this is not a European 5 Star grade) hotels and they are currently celebrating 50 years! In comparison with the newer flashier neighbours such as Novotel and Marriot I would say it has a hard job to keep up. I would stay here again but on any further visit to Mumbai would plump for the Novotel next door as prices were comparable when I booked.

I stayed at this once very famous hotel on 5 Feb., 2012. The location can not be better than what it is. Sun n Sand was one of the very early 5 star hotels in Bombay ( now Mumbai). The rooms lack decor befitting the status of the hotel. The size of the rooms is also considerably small.
The most disappointing aspect was the level of service. The staff seemed disillusioned and the staff deployed by the hotel during the receipt on of my friend's daughter's marriage was clearly the most pathetic that I have seen any where. It was evident that they were all contractually hired and were perhaps road side workers.

Next morning I visited the coffee shop for breakfast and continuing the previous night's tradition of poor service, the servers at Coffee Shop were also disappointing. The coffee shop was over staffed, yet, the level of service far from satisfactory.

Similarly, the staff manning the bell desk and staff manning the gates clearly evinced interest in tips than in rendering the service which should recall the guests to their hotel.

I will not prefer to visit this hotel again

Room Tip: Ask for beach facing rooms. Excellent View of Arabian Sea. Room 212, 213 or 214 are good
