We stayed only 2 days in this jewel which is a heritage mansion still kept by the family owners in Jaipur. The owner Mr Singh is a very refined and cultured man who talks to all the guests and gives the privilege of exposing us to the local culture and heritage. The rooms are unique and charming, we had lovely home made meals in the garden and the staff was adorable especially Mr Hariz. My only regret was not being able to stay more days at this lovely place.

Leave the bustle of Jaipur and enter an oasis of tranquility - just off the Sansar Chandra Road!! Beautiful, spacious accommodation with day balconies and peaceful courtyards. The owner, Durga Singh, is such a charismatic and knowledgeable host; his staff are so very friendly and helpful. The home-cooked food was delicious and served in the outdoor gardens. We couldn't fault it. We traveled with our (adult) son, who was given the honeymoon suite with circular bed -- say no more! Mr Singh is a staunch advocate of eco-friendly practices, with solar heated water and bio gas cooking.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the central courtyard/gardens; I would have no preference.

After a long drive to Jaipur, the Dera Mandawa was a welcome oasis of peace and calm. Our host, Durga Singh was a charming man and was very welcoming upon our arrival. The hotel is very close to all the main attractions of Jaipur. Our room was clean and spacious. The shower was very good, plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable.
The staff were all charming and made our 2 night stay a delightful experience. A pot of coffee was brought to our room each morning (we had requested this). The food was excellent ,and it was so nice to eat in the inner courtyard. Our host was very attentive and chatted to the guests at dinner. This was an excellent place to stay and a welcome place to return to after a day of sightseeing.

We spent 5 nights at this beautiful Haveli. On arrival we were greeted by the owner Mr Singh, a delightful and very knowledgeable man. He took us to our suite which was stunning. The furnishings and fittings were beautiful, the bed was HUGE (and very comfortable) and the minstrels gallery, with it's own swinging chair further added to the ambience and our delight.

Meals were served in the delightful courtyard, an area filled with trees and birdsong - a real oasis of calm. The breakfasts were varied and delicious, including eggs, cereals, fresh fruit, toast, Indian breakfast dishes, tea and coffee all served by attentive staff. Evening meals could be ordered and were very tasty. The menu is not large, but we always found something to enjoy.

On our first evening there was a puppet show, which was great fun and enjoyed by the guests. Mr Singh was in attendance and spent time introducing the puppeteers and explaining the stories being told by the puppets.

During our stay we were invited to join Mr Singh and his family's Holi celebrations. These began on the evening before Holi with a religious festival culminating in the lighting of a bonfire and processing around it 3 times. All the guests joined in the celebrations and it was great fun.

We both enjoyed our stay at Dera Mandawa and would not hesitate to re-visit and to highly recommend to others. Thank you Mr Singh and all the staff for a wonderful time spent at this beautiful Haveli.

Mr Singh, his family and staff instantly make you feel relaxed and welcomed into their beautiful home the minute you arrive. The surroundings are authentic Indian Raj ( think Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ...and i know Mr Singh wont be offended as he suggested it to us !) ..the staff are so attentive..the large suites are beautifully decorated and maintained and nothing is too much for all of the staff. The breakfast and evening meal were both delicious ..fresh local home cooking at its best.. we were treated to a puppet show which was a a hilarious and fantastic experience and my husband was taught and played ( and lost!) "Char-Bhar" ( Indian board game ) with Mr Singh and the staff. The homestay is perfectly situated just outside the walls of the old city and 20 mins from airport. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting the beautiful city of Jaipur.
