the Barwara Kothi is it! Nestled in a small gardin amid the hustle and bustle of the city, the homestay appears as a quaint oasis. It is very clean and well maintained, with beautiful marble floors that shine like glass. The room was spacious and simply decorated, providing a unique ambiance. Were I on a romantic holiday this would provide the perfect setting. The proprietor is a pleasant and most accommodating host and went out of her way to assist my travel companion. The only two things i feel could use improvement are: 1) the quality of the internet service (tends to be slow & freezes), and 2) only the proprietor speaks fluent english which made check-in and information gathering a bit challenging as she was not there when we first arrived. That having been said, I wold recommend this as a great place to stay during your visit to Jaipur.

I shared a twin room with a friend for 2 nights during the Holi festival and was very pleased with everything. Despite our late arrival the proprietor checked us in with cordial welcome and arranged a late buffet evening meal. She also took a lot of care to provide the latest information on town festivities and even gave us a print-out about local events during the Holi festival. The twin room was very spacious and comfortable, with a good shower room and plenty of hot water. The room had a massive private balcony with marble floor and chairs to relax and garden view. This is a small hotel where all the staff seem to take a lot of trouble to ensure their guests are comfortable and happy. I would definitely want to stay here if visiting Jaipur again and I am happy to recommend it. Breakfasts were of adequate quality and served buffet style in an elegant dining room. One minor improvement to suggest would be to provide a better spread of fresh seasonal fruit such as papaya and pineapple and more interesting breads. That aside, it was a great place to stay and memorable experience.

Barwara Kothi used to be the town residence of former Barwara Maraja. It looks like a villa surrounded by a small garden. It consists of a dozen of rooms, some on first floor, overlooking the garden, some on second floor. Walls are covered with pictures representing family members practicing sports or celebrating special events.
Rooms are wide and comfortable, even if a little simple, services are basic, but the general environment let you feel like being at home, comfortably.

My friends and I stayed here recently and had a very pleasant experience. The rooms are beautifully maintained as is the whole house. The staff are friendly and we felt comfortable throughout our stay.

I would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone travelling to the beautiful city of Jaipur.

What a great experience! How often can you travel in foreign country and be a part of the aristocracy? A beautiful private mansion, complete with history closely tied to the royal family. A quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur just meters away. The entire home and gardens are gorgeous, but each bed room is large and beautiful with marble floors and classic furniture.

Service is perfection with a large private staff at your disposal. Whether they are chilling the beer you brought, or serving you coffee on your private balcony, or making certain that you are awake and helping with your luggage at 5:00 in the morning, this really is your “mansion away from home.”

The breakfast was excellent and the set meal dinner, while not extravagant was one of the overall best meals I had in India, with each item being prepared to perfection.

In fairness, I should mention the two small negatives. The location is about 10 minutes from the height of activity with little shopping within walking distance. The Wi-Fi was a little weak, but adequate for general communications. However, neither of these minor issues detracted from a wonderful and delightful respite from the humdrum of the normal me-to hotels. The Barwara Kothi is a high-point of the wonderful Jaipur experience.

We spent three nights here in November 2011. Our room was super comfortable, the meals were excellent and home made, and the whole place was so evocative of the Raj, with tons of photos and furniture dating back to an earlier time. The owner is a young woman who, with her mother-in-law, keeps it running in a smooth and welcoming manner.
