Reviewed 25 June 2011

The hotel is located in centre of New Market in Kolkata and is on just walking distance from chowringhee and park street. cabs are available round the clock outside the hotel. Rooms are quite spacious, neat and clean. I was kinda afraid after reading reviews about this hotel but found it a real nice place to stay. the in house restaurant is on 9th floor and gives you a spectacular view of kolkata city. food served is tasty and the portions are quite generous. dont forget to try out their chilly chicken and fish-n-chips when u stay there. but room service was quite late and the room service number was noreply for more then half an hour. or may be that was coz i ordered at 10.30 in the nite and their closing time is 10.45. however few items are available round the clock. 15 minutes from howrah/sealdah train station. they offer free wi-fi but it dint work at all during my stay. i complained twice/thrice with the front office but found all in vain.

overall a nice place but the tarrif is too high.

Hotel is located in the middle of the city but in the market area. It is good for those who want to shop and eat very economically. the surroundings offer a great walkthrough market to purchase cheap stuff for friends and family but not a great choice for high quality stuff.

Rooms are old. They have tried doing some good job for interiors but still priced very highly than what they offer you in return.

Food is ok. Do not expect much from this hotel. If you have no choice then it is ok but not recommended otherwise.

Room Tip: Bargain a lot. They charge more than what they are

I happen to travel to Kol for a business visit and chose to stay at Lindsay. Though it was chance selection but i found the hotel to be a good one.
What is striking about the hotel is its location - just infront of the Hogg Market and close to New Market....it is a blend of History and Mordern Kolkata.
The surrounding of the hotel offers a lot os activities mainly for shopping and eating out with KFC, etc just at the walkable distance.
The hotel itself has a very good staff, extremely helpful, the food served is well made and the presentation is also good.
The restaurant serves buffet and a la cart and is sufficient to take care of taste and hunger.
though hotel offers peace of mind and good stay it is a bit heavy on the purse. But for a traveller who is looking for comfort i would recommend the hotel.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and the checking in was quick. Was shown a single room which was compact but ok. Trouble started when I wanted a shower. Got undressed and went into bathroom, noticed little insects all over the Walls. Got out and called reception. Changed room and got the room cleaned infront of me especially rhe bathroom.

Then the power kept going off in my room in the night as there was an electrical fault somewhere. Had enough of this and in the morning checked out early and stayed at the Park Hotel. Sometimes it's better spending a little more but getting a comfortable stay.

Hotel Lindsay is a good hotel with prime location in the heart of the city (Near new Market). It has comfortable rooms with quiet surroundings. Renovation at the site was a dampner though. It is also priced a bit matched to services

This is a suprisingly nice hotel in a bustling tourist district of Kolkata beset by thick skinned touts and traffic. Nonetheless, it's value for money. THe smallish rooms are very clean and pleasant. Elevators are old and rickety but operated by cheerful men. Lobby service is efficient if a little overwhelmed sometimes. Wifi was free during my stay. The highlight is definitely the rooftop bar and restaurant which is looks out over central Kolkata and is seething with activity whenever the weather is suitable. Arrive early and get a seat by the railing.

Stayed for a few days on official trip. Though it is located in the hub of activity, yet the stay leaves a bad stay. Dingy hotel with cramped rooms, unhygenic surroundings, would not stay there. The hotel is a high rise and all the rooms, lobby etc seem to have a cramped look.
However, the rooftop hotel has a good ambience. The food is okay though it has good variety of fish etc. The veg menu is very limited and choosing is difficult.
