“Updated comfort and convenience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2011

This Comfort Inn was conveniently located near main roads but far enough away from road noise. The desk staff was extremely helpful and offered to upgrade our room to king suite for the night. This was probably due to the Manager's evening reception being cancelled since the coordinator of the event was recovering from an illness. We were given directions(less than a half mile away) to Big Bob Gibson's Barbeque where we had a great meal. The breakfast at the Comfort Inn was plentiful and varied.
This Inn was in the process of being remodeled so we had new beds and were told the new towels and drapes were arriving next week.
We would consider returning to this motel in the future.

Thank you so much for your comments. I am glad you found the staff helpful and got to try our famous Gibson's Barbeque. The dust has settled on major renovations this year and we are focused on the details such as a constant supply of fresh towels & linens. We hope to have you back next time you visit Decatur. Happy Holidays!

We stayed at this hotel recently on a trip to visit family nearby. The hotel appears to have gone through a recent renovation and it looks like the lobby, hallways and rooms were updated. I remember coming to this property before and thinking that it needed some serious TLC. Well now it looks like they finally got around to updating the property.

The staff was very friendly and courteous and tried to do everything possible to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were updated with fresh paint, nice contemporary furniture, new bathroom counters and carpet. Although the room amenities are very basic, it was nice to have free WiFi, refrigerator and a microwave. The bed/bedding were adequately comfortable for this price range of hotel. The only negatives would be that our room had an older AC unit and the TV is an old school tube (although we were told by the staff that they are planning to get LCD TVs at some point in the future). The free breakfast in the morning is a nice touch and we enjoyed having unlimited coffee and making our own waffles. There is a pool on the property which looked fine, but we didn't get a chance to try it. The location of the hotel is great as it's near various fast food outlets and major roadways in Decatur.

Overall I think this hotel is a great value for ~$60-70 a night.

We stayed at this hotel for our son's cross country race. The hotel was full. The room was nice, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast room was full of cross country runner and families but it did not slow down the hotel. The food was plentiful and hot. Great job! Marked hotel as a favorite in our book!

Room Tip: We stayed in the King Suite and it was great for me, hubby and son!

After reading all the horrible reviews, I almost booked elsewhere but the low rate kept me at the Comfort Inn. I am glad that we did. We were placed on the second floor out of three which usually means that we hear EVERYTHING from upstairs but it was surprisingly quiet for a busy weekend. Our room was renovated with new paint, furnishings, bedding and carpet so it all appeared. The bathroom was still outdated but there was plenty of water pressure and no mold to be found. Bed was firm with no sagging spots. TV was still a tube but nice picture and easy to navigate.
Breakfast was above average the three days we were there. We did not use the business center or the pool on this trip but both looked clean and inviting.
The hotel is right off the main road through Decatur with easy access. McDonalds is across the street, Walgreens, Hardees, Subway all border the property with Walmart up the road.

The only bad things were the floors closer to the hallway creaked like a haunted house yet we never heard anyone else walking around. We also had a roach on the inside closet door the first time we opened it. If you are hanging clothes up, the new fixture in the closet is placed too far forward so the hangers bang the door when it closes.

All in all, we would stay here again but would rate this hotel more along the lines of a Quality Inn instead of a typical Comfort Inn.

Room Tip: Based on our point level, I requested a suite. I asked about incoming groups of kids and was told of...

This place is just plain nasty! Our room had mold all over the door. Another room had rat poop! The whole place stinks. A DUMP!

Other than the front desk staff being friendly and helpful, this place is a dump and just plain filthy. We were there on a soccer trip with several other families. One of the parents went out and bought new sheets and asked for something to clean his room with. There's no excuse for a hotel not being clean. I think anyone can understand renovations, but not uncleanliness. This place should be reported to the health department. Ice machines didn't work, and at one point there was only one staff member in the entire hotel. Find somewhere else to stay.

The good things about this hotel: The male desk clerk was very helpful. The breakfast was also adequate.

The bad things about this hotel: This hotel is going through a much needed renovation. Right now, it is a total mess! I stayed on the 1st floor. The room smelled of paint but it was obvious that the room needed repairs and more paint. The air conditioner was extremely noisy. The ice machine on the first floor was always empty but ice was always available on the 2nd floor. You did have to travel up on dirty elevators to reach the second floor where repairs were in full swing.

We tried to sleep in on a Saturday a.m. but were awaken to the sound of constant hammering which began at 9 a.m. We were granted a late check out until 1 p.m. However, the maid staff knocked once and then opened our door at 10 a.m. in order to clean our room. I pointed out that we had late check out and she agreed we were on the late check out list.

One alarming thing was a message that was left on the voice mail for a previous guest. The message came from the front desk and the female caller made threats to break the door down if the guest didn't come to the front desk immediately.

We were only in town for a one night stay so we managed okay. If I go back to Decatur, I will stay at another hotel.

The hotel should be in a better state of repair once the renovations are made. Best advice---stay elsewhere!

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel!
